Founded by a team of experienced entrepreneurs, the company has quickly built a strong national presence across retail and direct-to-consumer channels, driven by a differentiated product offering and strong consumer demand.With significant momentum and continued expansion ahead, the business is entering a critical phase of scale and is investing in building out its finance and accounting infrastructure to support long-term growth.The Role The company is seeking a Controller to build and scale its accounting function during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this individual will own the end-to-end accounting operations, including the close process, financial reporting, and internal controls.This is a highly visible, hands‐on leadership role suited for someone who thrives in fast‐paced environments and enjoys bringing structure to complexity. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting strategic decision‐making, and building scalable processes across the organization.ResponsibilitiesOwn and continuously improve the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAPMaintain the general ledger and oversee core accounting areas including revenue, inventory, COGS, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and payrollLead inventory and cost accounting, including standard vs. actual costing and variance analysisPartner cross‐functionally with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure accurate inventory tracking and reconciliation between systemsEstablish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsDrive automation and process improvements to build scalable and efficient accounting operationsOversee accounting system integrity across ERP, inventory, payroll, and AP platformsSupport audit readiness, lender requests, and diligence processesOwn accounting for equity‐related transactions, including stock‐based compensation and other complex instrumentsPartner with external advisors on technical accounting matters, including valuationsRecruit, develop, and manage the accounting team as the company scalesAct as a key partner to Finance leadership and provide insights to support business decision‐makingWhat We Need to See (Essential)7–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership in a Controller or similar roleStrong knowledge of GAAP and experience owning a full close processExperience in high‐growth, inventory‐intensive environments (e.g., CPG, food & beverage, manufacturing)Hands‐on experience with inventory accounting and cost accountingExperience with equity‐related accounting (e.g., stock‐based compensation, warrants, or similar instruments)Proven ability to build processes and internal controls in a scaling organizationStrong attention to detail and ability to operate both strategically and tacticallyEffective communicator with the ability to partner cross‐functionallyWhat We'd Like to See (Bonus)Experience with 409A valuations and external valuation firmsExposure to ERP implementations or system optimization initiativesPrior experience in a venture‐backed or private equity‐backed businessExperience building and managing a teamPackage: Up to $200,000 + bonus + equity Location: Remote (CA Preferred) If this role is of interest, please send your CV over toaudrey.sellers@harmonicfinance.comfor a full briefing on the role and company.
