The Sr. Payroll and HRIS Specialist will be responsible for overseeing Piping Rocks end-to-end payroll operations and will also serve as support for maintaining, configuring updates and enhancing the HRIS, ensuring accurate workforce data. The successful candidate will have prior experience managing all aspects of payroll and back-end HRIS.
Responsibilities Complete weekly multi-state payroll processing from start to finish
Develop and implement payroll policies based on Company needs and ensure payroll policies are accurately applied.
Ensure and maintain tax compliance during payroll processing, including accurate calculation and timely submission of payroll taxes
Stay up to date with payroll processing systems, industry best practices, and evolving wage and tax laws at the federal, state and local levels.
Monitor flow and approval of time sheets
Process all child support, garnishment, and 3rd party pay notices
Process all data changes not limited to new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, position changes
Coordinate all aspects of 401(k) plan as relates to payroll including associate deferrals, loans, payroll contributions, and continuous auditing
Ensure proper registration of employees' working states including withholding and unemployment accounts and maintain any state reporting/documentation requirements
Audit payroll deductions and ensure accuracy
Collaborate with HR team to maintain and enhance internal payroll procedures
Maintain all payroll supporting records
Support business by providing requested payroll reports and analysis
Handle payroll audits, tax audits, reconciliations, and payroll related projects as they arise
Serve as primary point of contact for payroll inquiries and issue resolution
Document and maintain procedures and checklists for payroll functions
Back up support to HR Connect
Support HR Department with various projects and responsibilities, including engagement events
Additional duties as assigned
HRIS Responsibilities Act as the system administrator for the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and system integrity
Serve as support to the Payroll and HRIS Manager for system configurations, maintenance and optimization of HRIS modules (Payroll, Time and Attendance, Performance, Compensation, etc.)
Lead system updates, testing and implementations of new features and modules
Support Payroll and HRIS Manager in developing and maintaining HR reports, dashboards and analytics
Work directly with HRIS support to troubleshoot system issues
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or similar field preferred
5+ years of complete payroll cycle administration
3+ years of Hands-on HRIS administration and back-end HRIS experience
Experience using Dayforce systems highly preferred
Working knowledge of federal and multi-state regulations and applicable tax laws
Advanced proficiency in HRIS platforms and payroll system
General knowledge of human resources management policies and regulations
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to always maintain a professional demeanor
Ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Must comply with GMP requirements; specific functions and documents will be discussed in GMP and on the job training
This position currently follows Piping Rock's Hybrid Remote Schedule (3 days/week on site, 2 days/week remote, subject to change). Will consider out of state, fully remote candidates with relevant experience.
