Associate Veterinarian (Yuba City)
Our client is a privately owned small animal hospital that provides general practice, urgent care, and emergency services. The hospital is hiring for an Associate Veterinarian to support continued growth and expanding services. The practice has grown significantly over the last eight years and is heavily invested in modern medicine, technology, and in-house care, with a strong focus on collaboration, learning, and training. The role is open to both an experienced Associate Veterinarian and New Graduate. The hospital primarily sees dogs and cats, with the space and willingness to see exotics, including training and equipment investment available if a veterinarian has an interest in developing this area. The practice is also open to expanding into mixed animal medicine for a veterinarian who wishes to pursue this, particularly to support the local community, which includes many small farms and FFA students. The hospital is currently open until 8pm, with plans to extend hours to 10pm alongside additional RVT support during the night. Doctors work four 10-hour shifts per week with flexibility in scheduling. Weekend coverage is required, with at least one day every other weekend. The role is full-time, although part-time may be considered for the right candidate. The Associate Veterinarian will provide a mix of general practice, urgent care, and emergency services, with approximately 30% of caseload exposure to urgent care and emergency cases. Doctors are expected to handle a wide range of cases and procedures, including surgery. If an emergency surgery presents, the doctor is expected to perform it, with teaching and support available if needed. Dentistry is supported by a highly skilled RVT. The practice values self-motivated veterinarians who enjoy learning, staying cutting edge, and training others, including students. The hospital is modern and technology-driven, with a strong emphasis on keeping cases in-house rather than referring out. The practice uses AI and digital systems extensively and expects doctors to be comfortable working in a tech-heavy environment. The hospital is fully equipped with modern technology, including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, lasers, in-house laboratory capabilities, and advanced dental equipment. The practice is willing to invest in additional equipment, including endoscopy and specialty tools, as interests develop. The hospital has recently expanded and will soon include 16 exam rooms, three surgical suites, a full dental suite, and dedicated dentistry and orthopedic capabilities. The hospital is not currently AAHA accredited but operates to AAHA standards. Services offered include general practice, urgent care, emergency care, advanced and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and the potential for additional specialty services if a veterinarian has a particular interest. The practice currently has nine DVMs and is actively recruiting an additional four veterinarians due to expansion. The team includes approximately 65 employees including 14 RVTs with a strong technician-to-doctor ratio of 5:1. The environment is highly collaborative, mentoring-focused, and supportive, with a strong emphasis on training, skill development, and teamwork.Package:• $140k - $200k base salary + production• Signing bonus• Health/Dental/Vision• 401(k) match• CE Allowance• Vacation time• License & DEA• VIN subscription• AVMA Professional Liability Insurance (PLIT) provided• AVMA Membership• Relocation assistance (if needed)• Pet Discounts• Uniform allowance• Door Dash• Gym membership
