SUMMARY: The Director of IT Operations is responsible for overseeing the set-up, implementation, operation, orchestration, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting for mission critical systems and applications. This position leads the process of evolving the company’s technology stack, as well as implementing best practices to mature service transition and Production support operations. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and maintains solutions which automate the configuration, deployment, scaling, monitoring, and support of the company’s core systems. Oversees deployments into our Production and staging environments, inclusive of both application and database engine changes. Leads and manages the implementation of automation, DevOps processes, protocols, and tools. Lead teams to identify IT Operational process gaps and then implement procedures and process improvements to address those gaps; owner of process flows for change, problem, and incident management. Ensures high availability and performance of mission critical applications. Reviews and approves technical documentation of tools and processes. Collaborates with other stakeholders and assists in multi-functional projects. Coaches, mentors, and matures Production support team; owns incident bridges and acts as primary accountable executive for resolution during service disruption events. Escalation contact and decision maker for incidents; responsible owner to guide teams during unexpected issues or incidents across service transition activities. Provides leadership, guides strategic and operational objectives, and ensures collaboration of cross functional technology and business teams. Leads source control, build, release, and configuration management. Troubleshoots platform and domain issues; matures process and KPI datasets for incident management. Leads pre- and post-production acceptance testing ensuring the highest possible quality of delivery. Leads, motivates, and mentors the global DevOps and DBA team as well as technical operations engineers. Ensures infrastructure architectures are scalable and can support the business needs by maintaining an understanding of business strategies and infrastructure capabilities. Follows IT security policies, standards, and procedures. Optimizes use of the platform infrastructure by performing needs analysis, procurement, support, installation, training, and problem resolution. Provides proactive, regular, and professional-level communication with stakeholders. WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field. 10 years’ experience as senior IT operations lead within a large-scale enterprise. ITIL certification preferred. Experience leading and mentoring a team of IT operations and database professionals. Experience managing complex source code repositories and delivery pipelines. Advanced understanding of database technology and administration; hands-on experience with analyzing root causes and issues. Familiarity with reporting vs. transactional databases, sharding, and spatial databases. Familiarity with SQL, Mongo, PostgreSQL, Cosmos, and Azure-native database solutions. Deep understanding and extensive experience with configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and other DevOps tools. Experience with Kubernetes/Rancher, Trino, Elasticsearch, and GitHub preferred. Experience working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative global team. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high quality results on time and on budget. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills. Change agent. Self-starter with sense of urgency and desire to make an impact.
