In this vital frontline role, you'll greet patrons with care, assist with materials and technology, and ensure that every visitor feels seen and supported. Your flexibility and collaborative spirit will help our branch stay connected and responsive to the community's evolving needs.Key ResponsibilitiesPatron Assistance and Materials HandlingWelcome patrons, answer questions, and assist with accounts and resourcesPromote programs and services while maintaining an inviting and inclusive environmentProcess, shelve, and display materials with accuracy and careWork scheduled shifts that include closing duties on Mondays and every other weekendTechnology AssistanceSupport and empower patrons using public computers, mobile devices, and printing toolsProvide basic troubleshooting and help with reservable tech and spacesNavigate the Integrated Library System to manage patron and collection needsLearning and DevelopmentStay current on library services and digital toolsShare knowledge and collaborate with teammatesEmbrace opportunities for learning and continuous improvementCommunity EngagementConnect authentically with patrons from all backgroundsHelp set expectations and boundaries with empathy and clarityReflect library values in every interaction, especially around equity, inclusion, and respectQualificationsRequiredAt least one year of experience in customer service, libraries, or education/teachingAbility to work a flexible schedule that includes a mix of days, evenings and every other weekendBasic proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Microsoft TeamsComfort serving patrons of all ages and from diverse backgroundsCuriosity and willingness to explore and learn library technologies alongside patronsAbility to clearly communicate new ideas, services, and resources in a positive and engaging wayEnthusiasm for working in an environment of continual growth and changePreferredExperience working with children and teensSchedule RequirementThis full-time position follows a consistent two-week rotating schedule, working every other weekend. Closing shifts are on Mondays, with additional closing shifts within the two-week rotation.
