AJC Reporting Intern - Summer 2026

Reporting interns join one of AJC's newsroom teams, including business, politics, opinion, metro/state, investigative, lifestyle, Black culture, or sports. Interns work as contributing reporters. You'll pitch ideas, report independently, write on deadline, and collaborate with editors, visuals, and audience teams. This role is ideal for students who want real newsroom experience and are excited to grow as digital-first journalists.What You'll DoReport and write stories on deadlineConduct interviews and interact with the publicPitch story ideas and contribute to daily coverageCollaborate with editors, photographers, and digital teamsLearn newsroom workflows and digital publishing practicesQualificationsPrior experience with campus media and/or professional news internships strongly preferredExperience with daily deadline reporting and writing requiredComfort working in a fast-paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time managementKnowledge of AP styleEagerness to learn and grow as a journalistAwareness of video, photography, or other digital skills is a plusUSD 22.02 - 33.08 per hourCompensationHourly pay rate is in the range of $22.02 - $33.08/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.BenefitsEmployees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
