This facility converts rolls of paper and packages them for end-use customers. The Plant Manager is responsible for providing leadership to 130 team members andmanaging resources to maximize safety, quality, cost, productivity and earnings.Plant Manager creates a vision for the facility that aligns with the business andcorporate vision, and sets direction for goals and objective and establishes and maintains positive relationships with Customers and Sales team members. Sylvamo has approved a large capital investment at the Sumter Sheet Plant, which includes adding a 13 pocket sheeter and expanding warehousing. The Sumter Plant Manager is a member of the Eastover Mill Lead Team and reports to the Eastover Mill Manager.Key Accountabilities:Sustain safe work processes to prevent injuries at the plantEstablish an operating environment that embracescontinuous improvement processes achieved through team-based initiativeswith particular focus applied to plant goals and scorecard measuresReliable operation of sheeters and all operating processes Ensure production equipment is maintained and upgraded to remaincompetitive within our market. Directly support, respond and enhance key strategic customerrelationships and requirements Ensure that all federal, state and local regulations are followed Support and contribute to the professional development of all facilityleadership for succession planning and cross-functional needs Maintain constant communication with facility lead team through dailyproduction meetings, weekly lead team meetings and one-on-ones Generate input on new equipment purchases for the plant as well as anymajor modifications of existing equipment Provide accurate process performance measures to facility leadershipand all employees. Measures will be reflected in the financial roadmapwhich is reported periodical to division leadership Developing a multi-skilled workforce that embraces change.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED plus at least one year of accredited post high school education in management, engineering, or related field preferred6-9 years of experience as manufacturing managerMust be a self-starter, highly motivated, and be able to work underpressure with changing deadlines Experience leading and sustaining safety processesExperience leading and sustaining reliable operationsKnowledge of inventory managementKnowledge of printing and paper manufacturingKnowledge of, and experience complying with, local and corporate policiesExcellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated leadership abilityDemonstrated people development abilityTeam and goal orientedAnalytical problem solverFlexible hours/available to work extended hours and respond on short noticeHigh level of Business AcumenDemonstrated experience Dealing with AmbiguityDirect contact with sales and customersCooperative relationship with sales, product development, graphics,Demonstrated experience Dealing with Customers and Corporate ManagementAvailable for periodic travelHigh attention to detail and accuracy in workPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in businessmanagement, engineering, or related field10+ years of experience as manufacturing manager; preferably inpaper converting industryExperience with a large capital investment at an industrial locationSheeter startup experienceSylvamo partners with you and your family on your health and wellness journey.
