Assistant/Associate Actuary - Capital Risk | Hybrid

Capital includes regulatory and rating agency and requires calculation, support and optimization. Capital is reported on a regular basis internally to executives, to the parent, as well as to external stakeholders. The capital function is also integrated, and often drives, strategic projects to ensure adequate company capitalization and the ability to hit key Group level financial metrics. This means the development and analysis of robust projection models and consulting with senior leaders on internal growth plans that impact capital. We ask that you have strong collaboration with asset management, reinsurance, financial reporting, FP&A, accounting and many others. This high visibility role is an important partner in major company projects.You will have outsized exposure to the executive leadership team, CRO, and other leaders across the company. There is also an expectation of collaboration within risk, including the credit risk team and financial risk team to ensure consistent risk scenario modeling across the enterprise and with the parent. You will report to the AVP, Actuary, in Corporate Risk.What You DoOversee and maintain capital reporting for regulatory requirements and rating agencies, including preparation, review, and explanation of results for all partnersAnalyze and manage capital impacts of corporate strategies, plans, and structural changes to influence our capital position over timeBe a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing recommendations on capital efficiency, optimization opportunities, and tradeoffsLead on cross-functional capital projects across the organization, partnering with:CFO organization and FP&ACRO and Risk ManagementAsset & Investment Management (AIM)Tax and AccountingReinsurance and external partnersDevelop, enhance, and govern capital projection models used for internal management, regulatory filings, and rating agency submissionsTransform and improve capital processes, including automation, data integration, and control enhancements (e.g., migration from Excel-based processes to SQL or other scalable platforms)Execute capital efficiencies and optimization opportunities, building partner alignment and gaining support to implement solutionsPresent capital analysis, executive summaries, and actuarial memorandaCollaborate with enterprise risk teams to ensure consistent stress testing, scenario modeling, and assumptions across risk and capital frameworksLead projects to simplify legal entity structures and other balance-sheet-related initiatives while navigating complex, cross-disciplinary topicsMay provide technical guidance, or oversight to junior actuarial or analytical staffWhat You Bring8+ years of experience in the actuarial field, with a focus on capital, risk, or financial modelingBachelor's degree required in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative fieldASA designation required; working toward FSAExperience operating beyond pure reporting, being a strategic partner to senior leadersExperience influencing outcomes through collaboration across finance, risk, and investment teamsAbility to explain complex capital topics to non-technical audiencesJob posting rangeAssistant: $82,000 - $164,000Associate: $100,000 - $200,000Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role.
