The role involves installing, terminating, testing, and labeling structured cabling for voice, data, and low-voltage systems in commercial and healthcare environments. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints and floor plans, pulling and routing cable through conduit and pathways, mounting network and telecom hardware, and ensuring all work complies with company standards and industry codes. Technicians will troubleshoot and repair cabling issues, document test results, and maintain a clean, safe job site. The role also includes collaborating closely with project managers and other trades, communicating progress and issues, and providing professional customer service while on client premises.Qualifications Experience installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a, fiber optic, coax) in commercial or healthcare environments.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and cabling layouts, with strong attention to detail and documentation.Knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI best practices) and basic understanding of network and low-voltage systems.Proficiency with hand and power tools, cable testers, toners, and labelers, and ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and in ceiling spaces.Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced job sites.Effective written and verbal communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach when interacting with clients and colleagues.High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical certifications (e.g., BICSI, OSHA, manufacturer-specific cabling certifications) are a plus.Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel locally between job sites as needed.
