About the Role:
The role of OSP Fiber Splicer is responsible for installation and maintaining fiber optic cables as needed and when required. A OSP Fiber Splicer is also responsible for providing technical support in designing and testing the fiber optics. They also look into existing laser and optical fiber devices and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Resolve, repair, and install fiber optics systems and ensure that they work properly.
Examine and replace faulty and old fiber optic cables and organize scheduled maintenance routines.
Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas.
Develop sensor indicators and conduct timely inspections to make sure that faulty fiber optic system does not destabilize its performance.
Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and underwater cabling requirements.
Keep track of the signal strength of different devices such as television and telephone to provide adequate performance.
Formulate and maintain system records and system designs.
Assemble equipment according to design specifications.
Performs tasks associated with the prepping and splicing of fiber lines.
Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle-check fluids, clean and organize vehicle.
Maintain proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignment.
Install/repair fiber lines in trenches and/or pedestals using various hand tools.
Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation.
Prepare paperwork to track daily production, and accurately record completed work on job site blueprints.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Key Qualifications:
HSD, or equivalent education, is required.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred.
2+ years’ experience as fiber technician, fiber splicer, or similar role
Valid driver’s license required.
CFOT, CPCT, or CFOS certification, preferred.
OSHA or CPR certification, preferred.
Additional Notes:
This position may require being on-call. Employees will respond to emergency calls between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. This position may require weekend work, night work, and/or overnight travel.
This position does require travel to different counties throughout Indiana.
This position is performed in the field both outdoor and indoor conditions daily.
