NI Cardiology Registered Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Registered Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer performs high quality diagnostic echo-cardiograms and vascular ultrasound for both inpatients and outpatients. SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Performs high quality diagnostic echo-cardiograms for both inpatients and outpatients. Performs high quality peripheral vascular studies for both inpatients and outpatients. Performs and processes ultrasound studies in cardiac and vascular resulting in high quality images in a timely and efficient manner. Is knowledgeable of and implements procedures, protocols, standards and guidelines under ASE and the supervision of the cardiologist. Gathers, sends and interprets clinical data as assigned per doctors orders to cardiology Pacs system. Documents legibly and charge daily procedures. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE High School graduate or GED Equivalent; graduate of an approved Ultrasound school. Registered Cardiac and Vascular Registry either through ARDMS or CCI. CPR Computer skills. Ultrasound machines and scanning skills. Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers and medical personnel; Basic math skills. Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrates foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Physical Demands/Work Environment Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with stressful situations and conflict resolution. Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing, sitting, walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping and lifting. This requires good body mechanics for pushing an ultrasound machine to all floors of the hospital.
