Job Summary:
Position is responsible for identification, development, and implementation of process and procedural modifications to improve productivity, process control, and operational profitability of extrusion and its related functions.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: (includes, but not limited to)
Manage projects with little supervision from inception to completion including process improvements, material evaluations, procedural development and selection, installation and startup of capital equipment
Coordinate projects with Department Supervisors, Quality Control & Machine Operators
Ability to independently analyze and interpret data using various software program to support recommendations for operational improvements
Perform product testing as needed to validate process, procedural or equipment changes
Coordinate the production of trial/product development material thru the extrusion process segment
Establish & document process conditions for specific designs, equipment, items, and structures (as directed)
Identify and implement operational process improvements
Assist in the design, modification, installation of equipment improvements
Recommend new equipment that will improve efficiency or quality and/or reduce waste or other measurable benefits
Assist with the purchase, installation, & start-up of new extrusion and related equipment
Work as member/leader of implementation teams
Evaluate & qualify new raw materials
Assist manufacturing with processing/production issues
Assist sales with customer quality issues
Assist the Technical group in their evaluation and qualification new raw materials
Comply with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP's) and any job or department specific SOP's
Any other functions or duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: (if any)
Oversee daily work activities of Extrusion Laminator employees working in tandem with Bristol Plant Manager and Production Scheduling.
Review, evaluate and provide feedback and corrective action (when necessary) to employees.
Qualifications:
At least ten (10) years of in plant or process engineering.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is preferred
Technical expertise of co-extrusion and extrusion lamination technics, processes and procedures
Knowledge of web handling processes required
Experience working with or leading manufacturing teams
Excellent PC skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and solid presentation skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Ability to define and solve problems dealing with many variables and limited standards and time.
Self-starter with initiative to anticipate what needs to be done
Good communication skills, both verbal and written, for dealing with all levels of employees, customers, and suppliers
Manage projects and programs and be able to obtain buy in from all levels of the organization to implement programs
Physical Demands:
Infrequent lifting of 50 lbs or less.
Frequent standing and sitting, as well as occasional crawling, stooping, kneeling, reaching with arms, & crouching will be required to perform the duties of this position.
May be required work at heights or in confined spaces for short periods of time during equipment inspections and modifications.
Working Conditions: (travel, working hours, any unusual environmental conditions, protective wear required, etc.)
Moderate travel to support extrusion operations in all manufacturing locations
Travel, as needed, for equipment evaluations and testing, interacting with suppliers, visiting customers, maintaining certifications, seminars, training sessions, etc…
Exposure to chemicals (inks, solvents), moving mechanical parts, extended noise, etc. may require the use of personal protective equipment; ear-plugs, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
