Summary
This position carries with it the obligation to uphold the mission of North Central Texas College in carrying out duties of the position. It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well as other service support that is needed in the fulfillment of the North Central Texas College’s mission.
Responsibilities & Duties
Focuses teaching and outreach efforts on student success
Maintains college level rigor and demands high level of academic excellence from students
Uses variety of instructional methods to enhance learning
Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with students and colleagues
Provides prompt and appropriate feedback on student assignments
Is well-organized and prepared for class; starts and ends class consistently on time
Posts office hours and is available to students during that time
Follows appropriate Chain of Command; follows departmental and college policies in all administrative actions; maintains HIPAA and FERPA
Encourages and atmosphere where students may ask questions, offer opinions and express ideas
Participates in departmental meetings; accepts responsibility for own professional development; accepts assignments and committee work
Advises students regarding scheduling, degree planning and how to improve performance
Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the need of the department and institution.
Maintain a weekly minimum of 35 hours in work situations and environments during two standard 17 week long semesters or its equivalent throughout the contract period. May be required to work additional hours as directed by the Division Chair and/or Dean.
Required Education
RN (ADN or BSN) from an accredited school of Nursing. Must be approved by Board of Nurse Examiners of Texas and present an unencumbered nursing license to practice in Texas.
Required Skills & Abilities
Ability to teach online required
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office proficient
Exhibition of respect and professionalism in a spirit of collegiality
Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences
Possess the clinical knowledge and expertise to properly instruct students in different areas in nursing education
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of online delivery methods, principles and techniques
Required Experience
Three or more years of current clinical experience in an acute care and or Medical-Surgical Nursing environment.
Preferred Experience
Past experience either teaching in Vocational Nursing or ADN program and/or as a clinical instructor preferred.
Master’s degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in another field with 6 hours in a graduate.

Subject to criminal background check. Employees must reside in Texas or Oklahoma. Resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcript required. Salary starts at $43,446 and can be commensurate with education and experience. This is a 9 month contract plus a 10 week extension paid out over 12 months.
