Job Overview School Security Guards play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming, and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. All guards assigned to this position will be trained and required to maintain compliance with Oregon DPSST (Department of Public Safety Standards and Training) requirements prior to their first shift. This position serves a Private Christian School, and guards must be comfortable working within a faith-based community and representing its values professionally. Key Responsibilities Maintain a visible security presence to deter suspicious or unsafe activity Conduct campus patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas ● Write clear and detailed reports for school administration ● Monitor entrances/exits and ensure only authorized individuals access school property ● Respond to security concerns, disturbances, or emergencies calmly and professionally ● Contact law enforcement or emergency services when necessary ● Assist with visitor management and student safety during drop-off, pick-up, and events ● Escort trespassers or unauthorized individuals off school property ● Perform other school-related security duties as assigned Qualifications & Preferred Experience Prior military service or law enforcement background strongly preferred. Must be able to read, write, and understand English to follow procedures, complete reports, and communicate clearly. Strong understanding of security protocols, threat identification, and risk mitigation strategies. Familiarity with CCTV systems and basic surveillance technology. Certification in CPR/First Aid preferred (or willingness to obtain). Ability to stay calm under pressure and act quickly in critical situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and the public. High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. Why Join Veterans Security Operations?
