React Architect

*React Architect* *Location:* New York, NY *Work Arrangement:* Hybrid – onsite 1–2 days per week *Employment Type:* 6-month W2 contract with strong potential for extension or conversion *Pay:* $70.00–$74.00 per hour W2 *Travel:* None *Overtime:* None Position Overview Seeking an experienced React Architect to support a leading retail organization in New York City. This individual will lead the design and development of complex, high-performance web applications using ReactJS while helping establish scalable front-end architecture, coding standards, and engineering best practices. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on React expertise with architecture, technical leadership, and client-facing communication skills. Candidates must be local to the New York City area and available to work onsite one to two days per week. Responsibilities * Architect, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using ReactJS. * Ensure application performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility. * Define front-end architecture, technical standards, coding practices, and development processes. * Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders to develop end-to-end solutions. * Lead and mentor front-end engineers while remaining hands-on with development. * Design reusable React components and shared libraries. * Integrate applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and state-management solutions. * Review code and ensure adherence to quality, security, performance, and accessibility standards. * Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex front-end applications. * Participate in client discussions and present technical recommendations, progress updates, and potential risks. * Support Agile delivery timelines and technical project planning. * Evaluate emerging front-end technologies and introduce appropriate improvements. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. * Seven or more years of front-end development experience. * Advanced, hands-on experience with ReactJS and its ecosystem. * Strong experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Redux, and React Router. * Experience architecting scalable, responsive, enterprise-level web applications. * Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and state-management libraries such as Redux or MobX. * Experience with modern build tools such as Webpack, Babel, NPM, or Yarn. * Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring front-end development teams. * Strong understanding of application performance, code quality, and reusable component architecture. * Knowledge of web accessibility standards and development best practices. * Strong client-facing and cross-functional communication skills. * Ability to work onsite in New York City one to two days per week. Preferred Qualifications * TypeScript experience. * Next.js or other server-side rendering experience. * AWS or Azure experience. * CI/CD pipeline and web application deployment experience. * Experience with Jest, Enzyme, Cypress, or similar testing frameworks. * Experience delivering solutions within Agile development environments. * Retail or e-commerce industry experience. *This position is available on a W2 basis only.
