The substitute will implement lesson plans and instructional strategies aligned with the mission and academic goals of RYSS, ensuring continuity of learning and student success.Qualifications:Education/Certification:A minimum of 60 college hours or Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.Valid Texas teaching certificate is preferred.Demonstrated competency in assigned subject areaSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of core academic content and instructional best practicesFamiliarity with culturally responsive teaching and diverse learning needsStrong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to integrate technology into instruction effectivelyExperience:* Prior experience teaching or working with students in an educational setting preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional StrategiesDeliver instruction based on lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or campus leadershipAdapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of RYSS students, including English learners and students with special needsCollaborate with special education staff to implement accommodations and modifications per IEPsUse instructional technology and culturally relevant materials to enhance student engagementStudent Growth and DevelopmentMonitor and assess student progress through informal and formal assessmentsServe as a positive role model aligned with the values and mission of RYSSFoster a supportive and inclusive classroom environmentClassroom Management and OrganizationMaintain accurate attendance and student recordsUphold RYSS's Student Code of Conduct and behavioral expectationsEnsure student safety and maintain a clean, organized classroomSubmit a summary report or feedback form at the end of the assignmentCommunication* Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, staff, and families* Support a collaborative school culture and participate in team meetings as neededProfessional Growth and Development* Participate in RYSS substitute orientation and ongoing professional development* Stay informed of school policies, procedures, and instructional initiativesOther Duties* Follow all RYSS safety protocols and emergency procedures* Perform other duties as assigned by campus administrationWorking Conditions:Tools/Equipment Used:Standard classroom technology and instructional equipmentPosture/Motion:Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting (up to 15 lbs)Environment:Primarily indoors; may include outdoor supervision dutiesMental Demands:Maintain emotional control under stress; flexible with schedule and assignmentsThis job description reflects the mission and expectations of Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success and is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.
