Employment Assistant
Responsible for providing clients with employment information and resources needed to obtain a job in accordance with Agency procedures.
Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:
Follows employment procedures as detailed in the Employment Manual. Assists program management with keeping manual up to date.
Assesses client’s skills and job readiness through approved methods.
Assesses and assists clients upon intake in obtaining proper identification (e.g., social security card, birth certificate) for employment purposes.
Verifies and assesses suitability of clients’ employment. Maintains contact with clients’ employers to ensure long term placement. Documents all contact, accurately and in a timely manner.
Assists clients in planning structured/effective job searches.
Enters job search itineraries and job verification information into the ORION data base completely and accurately in a timely manner. Keeps current on all inappropriate/incomplete job searches and discusses intervention at Team Meetings.
Conducts training on employment issues including, but not limited to: job readiness, vocational choices, grooming, job retention skills, behaviors, and resumes.
Maintains accurate records of clients’ employment and vocational training while in the program.
Maintains and updates binders and ORION in regard to job verification forms, weekly work schedules and job searches in an accurate and timely manner.
Completes accurate and detailed logs in ORION regarding to clients’ employment status in a timely manner.
Compiles and maintains accurate monthly statistics on the number of clients placed, average wage, average job search time, number of clients that completed employment class, and number of jobs obtained with benefits. Submits same to Employment/Education Coordinator and supervisor by established deadline.
Surveys newspapers, the internet, and other sources to locate employment opportunities for clients.
Maintains positive and professional communication with established job contacts.
Conducts on site and telephonic job checks of clients who are currently working.
Completes a job check log in ORION on the day the check was conducted noting, date, time, employment location, name of supervisor spoken to, if applicable, and any other relevant information in an accurate manner.
Completes an Incident Report in ORION immediately for unknown whereabouts when a job check is unsuccessful.
Posts current employment office schedule to include: class times, assessment times, and open/closed hours.
Completes filing and closes files in an accurate and timely manner.
Refers clients to prospective employers and monitors progress of clients on the job; accurately documents observations in a timely manner.
Effectively communicates, verbally and in writing, job readiness and placement assistance for vocational programming to Caseworkers and referring agency personnel in a timely manner.
Identifies hard to place clients and consults with Employment/Education Coordinator or supervisor for immediate assistance. Makes appropriate outside referrals.
Creates, updates, and maintains job board for facility in an accurate and timely manner.
Monitors Agency vehicle use, maintenance needs, and accurately reports any needs to Facility Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalency required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Employment placement experience preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and a driving record that does not preclude the employee from being covered by Agency liability insurance. Reliable transportation required. Accuracy and strong organizational skills required. Must have ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.
STARTING RATE: $15.00 per hour
