Job Title: Civics Program Coordinator at Teach with TVWLocation: Olympia, WA - hybrid optional Organization: TVW, Washington’s Public Affairs NetworkEmployment Type: Full-Time, starting August 2026Position OverviewTeach with TVW is the education department of TVW, Washington State’s Premier Public Affairs Television station. We are a small team that produces award winning civics content for the classroom and the general public. We are seeking a dynamic and organized Civics Program Coordinator to support the development and delivery of educational programming, specifically the Capitol Classroom program. This role blends curriculum support, program coordination, and outreach, making it ideal for a former educator who is passionate about civic education, media, and storytelling. The Civics Program Coordinator will play a key role in lesson planning, program logistics, and expanding our reach through thoughtful social media engagement.About Capitol ClassroomCapitol Classroom teaches students across Washington State how to participate in the legislative process by working directly with our team of volunteer lobbyists in Olympia via bi-weekly Zoom meetings during the Legislative session. Students and teachers choose actual bills to support, oppose, or amend, bringing civic participation into the classroom. Then, under the guidance of their lobbyist, they track and advocate for their bill as it moves through the legislative process. The goal of Capitol Classroom is to provide a rich and immersive learning experience by showing students how to work within the system to make their voices heard. Capitol Classroom connects students with real-world civic learning experiences, bringing government, policy, and public service to life through engaging, standards-aligned programming. Key ResponsibilitiesProgram & Curriculum SupportAssist in designing and refining engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans and classroom resourcesCollaborate with the team to develop civic education programming for diverse student audiencesAdapt materials for different grade levels and learning environmentsProgram CoordinationSupport scheduling, logistics, and execution of Teach with TVW programs and eventsCoordinate with educators, partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth program deliveryTrack program participation and assist with evaluation and reportingSocial Media & OutreachHelp manage and grow Teach with TVW’s social media presenceCreate and schedule content that highlights programs, student engagement, and impactSupport outreach efforts to educators and community partnersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Public Affairs, or a related fieldMinimum of 3+ years of classroom teaching experience or curriculum designExperience with lesson planning and/or curriculum developmentProficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) and basic content creationStrong organizational and communication skillsPassion for civic education and student engagementPreferred QualificationsExperience with project or program coordinationExperience with digital content creation tools (e.g. Adobe Suite, Canva)Knowledge of state standards or civic education frameworksComfort working in collaborative, fast-paced environmentsAbility to take initiative over self-guided projectsWhat We OfferOpportunity to impact civic learning at scaleCollaborative and mission-driven teamStarting salary range of $80,000 - $85,000Retirement plan including 5% employer matchingComprehensive Health benefit packageHow to ApplyPlease submit your resume and a brief cover letter describing your experience and interest in the role to Brett Hansen, Director of Education: bretth@tvw.org Teach with TVW is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
