Womens Health Coordinator
The Family Health Services division is seeking candidates to fill the role of Women’s Health Coordinator. Successful candidates will display an ability to take initiative, work across operational and programmatic silos, and maintain a working knowledge of various health and social issues impacting Texas women and their families. A successful candidate will be able to work with a variety of staff across different levels of leadership in multiple divisions, with the ability to adapt approach based on each division or program unit’s unique needs, scope, and processes.
As part of Family Health Services Strategy Team, the Women’s Health Coordinator will coordinate efforts to improve the health and well-being of Texas women and their families. Efforts may include statewide planning of strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders; training and education initiatives; and performing complex consultative services and technical assistance work; among others.
This position initiates, manages, or supports cross-program collaboration across various medical and social support programs and services administered by Texas Health and Human Services. This position serves as a coordination point of contact between HHS staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders.
Essential Job Functions:
(30%) Convenes staff across HHSC, DSHS, and other relevant state agencies on issues relevant to programs, initiatives, supports, and other efforts to promote positive outcomes for Texas women and their families. Coordinates development of the annual report on Women’s Health Programs.
(30%) Coordinates stakeholder engagement and represents women’s health initiatives in meetings, conferences, panels, and committees, as requested. Develops materials in preparation for or in follow-up to workgroups and meetings conducted with internal and external stakeholders, and present upon request.
(25%) Acts as advisor to the Family Health Services division and the office of the Chief Program and Services Officer on needs, trends, and emerging best practices related to women’s health and well-being. Collaborate regularly with relevant areas regarding findings and feasible opportunities to address needs or improve services.
(15%) Attends work regularly and performs other duties as assigned, including providing guidance and direction to the family health coordinator and other FHS staff.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of health and human service programs, issues, and best practices pertaining to women’s health.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, and legislative and rulemaking processes.
Skill in research and policy development.
Skill in written and oral communication, including the ability to make public presentations, write technical information in an understandable format, and produce sophisticated reports.
Ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and to work cooperatively as a team member in a fast-paced, deadline orientated environment.
Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions with groups.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Initial Selection Criteria:
Three years of experience with programs and/or policies that seek to improve women’s well-being.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably with a degree in government, public policy, public health, sociology, social work or related health and human services field.
Experience may substitute for education on a year-to-year basis.
At least one year experience coordinating projects, resources, and programs, preferably in a state agency or state or federal organization.
