About The Role:
We are seeking an experienced AI Assisted Fullstack Java Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chicago, IL, operating in a hybrid work environment with two days on-site. This role is ideal for highly self-sufficient professionals who excel in individual contribution while collaborating effectively within Agile teams. The engineer will play a pivotal role in accelerating software development processes by utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as Anthropic Claude and Cursor. The primary focus is on building, refactoring, and hardening enterprise-grade Java and React-based components, ensuring they meet stringent quality, security, and operational standards for production deployment. The candidate must possess a strong background in backend Java development, frontend React skills, and demonstrable experience with AI tools in software engineering. They will guide team efforts in adopting AI-assisted development practices, review AI-generated code, and ensure all deliverables are production-ready, secure, and maintainable. Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in Java backend development in enterprise environments
- Proficiency in React or similar frontend frameworks
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and engineering fundamentals
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Anthropic Claude and Cursor
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve AI-generated code quality
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and data protection standards
- Experience working within Agile development methodologies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of working independently
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Responsibilities:
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate the design, coding, refactoring, and hardening of Java and React components
- Ensure all code and artifacts are production-ready, adhering to CNA security, quality, and operational standards
- Review, modify, and justify AI-generated outputs, maintaining full ownership of the development process
- Participate actively in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, testing, and deployment
- Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Implement secure coding practices, error handling, and performance optimizations
- Document design decisions influenced by AI tools and share best practices with team members
- Support knowledge transfer and training related to AI-assisted development techniques
