Physical Therapist

Reports To: Director of Pupil Personnel Services / Special Education CoordinatorPosition SummaryThe Physical Therapist provides evaluation, intervention, andConsultation Services To Students With Disabilities Whose Physical Ormotor needs interfere with their ability to access and benefit fromthe educational environment. The PT collaborates with educators,parents, and related service providers to support students inachieving educational goals and maximizing independence and mobilitywithin the school setting.________________________________Essential Duties And Responsibilities Evaluate students to determine eligibility for physical therapyservices in the educational setting. Develop and implement individualized therapy goals aligned withstudents' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Provide direct and consultative physical therapy services to eligible students. Assess and address gross motor development, mobility, posture,strength, balance, coordination, and functional movement needsaffecting educational performance. Recommend adaptive equipment, positioning devices, mobility aids, andenvironmental modifications as appropriate. Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student participationin classroom and school activities. Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, andparent conferences. Maintain accurate evaluations, therapy notes, progress reports, Medicaid documentation, and compliance records. Monitor student progress and modify treatment plans as necessary. Train staff and families in positioning, mobility techniques, transfers, and therapeutic exercises. Maintain confidentiality of student information and records. Comply with district policies, Ohio Department of Education requirements, IDEA regulations, and applicable state and federal laws. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services or designee.Required Qualifications Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution. Valid Ohio Physical Therapist License issued by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board. Ability to obtain and maintain Ohio Department of Education credentials as required. Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and special education procedures. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in a school setting. Experience working with students with orthopedic impairments, neurological disorders, and developmental disabilities. Knowledge of adaptive physical education and assistive technology.Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Ability to assess and develop individualized therapy plans. Knowledge of pediatric physical therapy practices and interventions. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain timely documentation. Proficiency with educational technology and electronic record systems.Physical Requirements Ability to lift, transfer, position, and assist students with mobility needs. Ability to move throughout school buildings and classrooms.
