Buyer II

Position Summary The Buyer II works under general supervision to monitor and lead supplier performance within company policies and toensure continual improvement, customer satisfaction, and adherence to company policy. The Buyer is responsible for planning and coordinating as necessary to procure goods and services in a cost effective and timely mannerto meet company goals. Interacts with suppliers, distributors, subcontractors, production planning, inventory control, logistics, and engineering to ensure procurement of materials is within approved schedules and quality specifications, auditing supplier quality, cost, delivery, environmental, and supply chain security performance, communicating material requirement schedules and forecasts to suppliers Negotiates contracts and cost reductions for purchased materials and implements special purchasing programs with suppliers, such as vendor-owned inventory or preferred freight transport, analyzing production schedules and forecast plans using manual and automated material requirements planning systems to plan purchases and inventory Monitors and maintains material levels and status of purchased materials; advises Production Planning and Operations of delays, works to resolve material shortage issues, and strives to minimize excess inventories, working with Receiving and Accounting to expedite, reschedule, or cancel purchase orders as needed Prepare material requirements to meet manufacturing demand and minimize inventory levels in JIT environment while coordinating multiple-department activities to procure new materials and resolve material and purchase order issues Focus resources on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through various production processes and establish key performance metrics relating to supply chain planning/forecasting to measure actual performance against goals regularly Other Responsibilities Follow company-wide safety programs, 5S initiatives, and ISO procedures Regular and reliable attendance is required to accomplish essential functions of the job Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies Education and Experience Associates degree or equivalent applicable education and work experience is required APICS certifications or similar professional operations and inventory control concept training required Minimum 3 years of experience purchasing in a LEAN manufacturing using MRP systems and/or as MRO buyer in a related industry is required Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with all levels of personnel Intermediate PC skills are required, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and email Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Prioritize workload to consistently meet deadlines Bilingual language skills is preferred Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in a warehouse, manufacturing, cleanroom, and/or office environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of noise, specialized apparel, safety equipment, and moving mechanical parts. This position will have exposure to and use of materials listed in the companys Safety Data Sheets (SDS). There may be limited exposure to moderate levels of noise and other factors from production and warehouse areas. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee conducts primarily light work with frequent periods of standing, walking, talking, listening, visual inspection, pushing, and pulling. This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds on occasion with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Repetitive motions (movements) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers are required.
