Job Description Neurosurgeon (MD/DO)Position SummaryThe Neurosurgeon provides comprehensive surgical care for patients with disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, operative and perioperative management of complex neurosurgical conditions, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and manage patients with neurosurgical conditions including traumatic, degenerative, neoplastic, vascular, and congenital disordersPerform neurosurgical procedures involving the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves, consistent with training and privilegesProvide perioperative and postoperative care, including management of neurosurgical complicationsParticipate in emergency and on-call coverage for neurosurgical servicesCollaborate with neurology, critical care, oncology, orthopedics, radiology, anesthesia, and rehabilitation servicesParticipate in multidisciplinary case conferences and surgical planning meetingsInterpret diagnostic studies including neuroimaging and electrophysiologic testingCommunicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosisMaintain accurate, timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiativesSupervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, and trainees as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited neurosurgery residency programFellowship training in a neurosurgical subspecialty preferred but not requiredBoard-eligible or board-certified in Neurological SurgeryAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and CompetenciesAdvanced technical and operative neurosurgical skillsStrong clinical judgment and decision-making abilitiesAbility to manage high-acuity, complex surgical casesExcellent communication and leadership skillsCommitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and patient safetyWork EnvironmentHospital operating rooms, intensive care units, outpatient clinics, and inpatient wardsCall coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods during surgical proceduresManual dexterity and stamina for complex operative casesVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for operative and patient care environmentsRequirementsMust maintain state certification and/or licensure.
