Job Summary: The Speech Language Pathologist shall be responsible for providing a full range of speech-language pathology services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, and problem solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed.Performance Expectations:Demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking with patient evaluation and treatment planningDemonstrates compliant, secure, timely documentation in the Electronic Medical RecordDemonstrates understanding of the anatomy and physiology impacting vocal, auditory, memory, and swallow skills while utilizing age specific indicators as it relates to each related diagnosis and treatment approachAppropriately identifies learning needs of patients and family membersWorks as a team member to assist patient/family at all points of entry into the acute therapy care system and along the continuum of careAble to perform patient evaluations with use of appropriate functional tests/measures and demonstrates the ability to assimilate objective measures along with social factors, medical stability, activity restrictions, participation limitations or other relative comorbiditiesAble to determine functional deficits and construct appropriate goals, incorporating patient/family goals, establishing an appropriate frequency and duration appropriate to therapy diagnosis, plan of care, while remaining age appropriateDemonstrates the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks including moving patients, equipment while maintaining safety for both self and patient per physical and environmental demandsConducts patient evaluation, treatment and corresponding professional behaviors within the scope of practice for this disciplineThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; the employee will also perform other job duties as assignedQualifications:Education/SkillsThe incumbent shall be a graduate of a Master level program in speech-language pathology which is either accredited by the Educational Standards Board or whose course work and practice meet ASLHA certification requirements. The incumbent shall possess current Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or be CCC eligible and hold current state license as applicable. Education/experience serving people with physical disabilities is desirable. The incumbent will complete 2 hours of stroke education annually.Work Experience:Education/experience serving people with physical disabilities is desirable.Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRELicensed to practice Speech Therapy in the State of Mississippi.Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe belowBasic Life SupportWithin 30 Days of EmploymentRequiredMental Demands:
