Accounting Analyst

Currently, we are looking for an experienced Accounting Analyst in our Detroit Office. In addition to Detroit, we have offices in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Washington D.C. With more than 300 attorneys working in 60 different areas of concentration, Honigman provides timely and cost-effective counsel to clients in numerous industries.We are looking for an Accounting Analyst to join our team for day-to-day accounting activities. Adaptability and positivity are key qualities to be successful in this role.RESPONSIBILITIESSupport successful month-end closing processes including reconciliation of foreign stand-alone financials under local accounting standards to US modified cash basis accounting standards.Assist in the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations including foreign subsidiary.Assist in establishing, upgrading, coordinating, and administering the procedures and operating systems to be used in controlling the financial operations of the firm.Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual internal controls are completed in a timely fashion.Prepare monthly Balance Sheet and P&L account reconciliations.Prepare and process monthly journal entries, re-classes, and accruals.Assist General Accounting team in posting cash receipts.Set-up new general ledger accounts.Assist in the preparation of materials to support the Firm’s annual outside audit.Assist General Accounting team with Ad-hoc projects.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting required.At least two years’ experience in accounting.International accounting and familiarity with FX accounting for foreign exchange transactions is a plus.Understanding of GAAP and SOX compliance and controls is a plus.Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel with proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.Strong mathematical and analytical skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete assignments within deadlines.High attention to detail and accuracy.Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to read and analyze financial reports.Honigman is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or any other category prohibited by applicable local, state or federal law.
