The Surgical Procurement Manager is responsible for the planning, sourcing, coordination, and oversight of all orthopedic implant materials and related devices used across the organizations surgical services. Including total joint, trauma, extremity, sports medicine, spine, and other orthopedic implant categories are procured accurately managed.Essential Functions:Manage the day-to-day purchasing activities for orthopedic implants, instruments, and related surgical supplies.Develop and implement procurement strategies for orthopedic implant systems and components.Research new implant products, systems, and technologies, identify sourcing requirements, and evaluate availability.Maintain accurate purchase orders, receipts, and procurement records in applicable ERP or inventory management systems.Hold manufacturers and distributors accountable for expected turnaround times, delivery accuracy, and fulfillment commitments.Support month-end purchasing activities through accurate documentation, reconciliation, and communication with supply chain or finance teams.Assist in sourcing urgent or custom implant products needed to support scheduled or emergent surgical procedures.Receive and verify incoming orthopedic implant materials both physically and systematically, ensure proper assignment to cases and required documentation.Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts, backorders, or excess inventory and ensure readiness for all scheduled cases.Maintain system accuracy for on-hand inventory including proper management of reserves, bills of materials (BOMs), work order closeouts, and post-procedure reconciliations.Perform regular cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, implement corrective actions to improve accuracy and prevent recurrence.Support implant tracking requirements including lot number documentation, expiration monitoring, and recall responses.Produce inventory accuracy reports, assist in KPI tracking, and submit required monthly inventory data to financial or administrative teams.Build and maintain strong relationships with orthopedic implant manufacturers, distributors, and service partners.Evaluate vendor performance based on delivery accuracy, product quality, responsiveness, and compliance with agreements.Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and volume arrangements to support cost-containment goals.Ensure adherence to approved vendor lists, contract obligations, and organizational purchasing policies.Coordinate closely with surgeons, OR coordinators, and clinical teams to ensure correct implant availability for all scheduled procedures.Collaborate with sterile processing, materials management, and warehousing teams to support receiving, staging, and distribution processes.Troubleshoot product shortages, substitutions, delivery delays, and urgent case needs.Maintain working knowledge of implant requirements across orthopedic subspecialties (e.g., trauma, spine, sports medicine, joint reconstruction).Ensure all purchasing and inventory practices comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.Maintain accurate and complete documentation for implant tracking, audits, and regulatory reviews.Support quality and risk-management activities including product recalls and corrective actions.Perform other related tasks as needed.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Strong knowledge of implant categories (orthopedic, cardiac, spine, trauma, etc.) and vendor landscape.Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret utilization and cost data.Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities especially with clinical stakeholders.Skilled negotiator with a strategic mindset and ability to manage complex agreements.Proficiency with ERP systems, inventory management tools, and Microsoft Excel.High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to perform under pressure.Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills.Excellent communication and collaboration with clinical teams.Proficiency with ERP systems, purchasing software, and inventory management tools.Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive demands.Education and Experience:Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field.Three (3) years of supply chain or procurement experience in a healthcare or surgical services setting.Benefits Offered:3 Medical Plans2 Dental Plans1 Vision PlanEmployee Assistance ProgramShort and Long-Term Disability InsuranceBasic and Voluntary Life with AD&D Plan401(k) with a 2-year vestingPTO + HolidaysAt Matrix Medical Management we specialize in delivering customized business solutions designed to enhance efficiency, compliance, and financial success across Texas.
