This role serves as a key technical liaison between field operations and office-based engineering teams, ensuring wells are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and operational standards.The position requires strong technical expertise in drilling operations, real-time problem solving, and the ability to operate effectively in challenging environments. The Rig Engineer collaborates closely with field supervisors, contractors, and service providers to optimize performance, reduce downtime, and maintain operational integrity.ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Operational SupportProvide real-time engineering support for drilling, completion, and workover activitiesMonitor drilling parameters such as hydraulics, torque, drag, and hole conditionsTroubleshoot downhole and surface operational issuesIdentify and recommend performance optimization opportunities to reduce non-productive time (NPT)Well Planning & ExecutionAssist in the development and execution of drilling, workover, and completion programsSupport mud programs, casing design, and cementing operationsEnsure proper implementation of wellbore design and bottom hole assembly (BHA) configurationsMonitor adherence to operational timelines and cost expectationsHealth, Safety & Environmental (HSE)Promote and enforce strong safety practices on-siteEnsure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and operational standardsParticipate in job safety analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, and safety meetingsSupport incident reporting and investigation processesContractor & Service CoordinationCoordinate with contractors and service providers to ensure technical accuracy and execution qualityReview job designs, operational reports, and service performanceVerify equipment readiness and suitability for operating conditionsContribute to contractor evaluations and lessons learned processesReporting & DocumentationPrepare and review daily operational reportsTrack key performance indicators including cost and downtimeMaintain accurate engineering documentation and well recordsCommunicate daily operational updates to engineering and management teamsOperational Environment SupportApply best practices for operating in challenging environmentsSupport equipment readiness and operational planning for environmental conditionsConsider logistical constraints and environmental sensitivities in decision-makingSkills and QualificationsRequired EducationBachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldRequired Experience3-7 years of experience in drilling, completion, or workover operationsHands-on experience in field-based oil and gas operationsExperience supporting rig-based engineering activitiesCertifications (Required or Preferred)Well Control Certification (IWCF or IADC, Engineer or Supervisor level)H2S safety certificationAdditional training in environmental or extreme operating conditions preferredTechnical SkillsStrong understanding of drilling mechanics, hydraulics, and wellbore behaviorKnowledge of mud systems, casing design, and cementing practicesAbility to interpret real-time drilling data and make operational decisionsFamiliarity with cost tracking and performance metricsSoft SkillsStrong problem-solving and analytical abilitiesEffective communication and coordination skillsAbility to work under pressure in dynamic field environmentsTeam-oriented with strong collaboration skillsKey CompetenciesSafety-focused mindsetDecision-making under real-time operational conditionsAttention to detail and documentation accuracyAdaptability to challenging environmentsContinuous improvement and performance optimization#LI-SU1
