Aspen Tree Service will provide extensive training on turf and weed identification, insects, disease, fertilization, diagnostic, application techniques, equipment and safety. Must possess excellent communication skills and maintain a positive attitude with internal and external customers. Candidate must possess a valid Colorado Drivers license and pass a company driving test. Must be able to load, unload and carry 5 gallon containers, lift and carry 50 lbs, drag up to 300 feet of spray hose. Industry related professional certifications considered a plus. Must be able to obtain a Colorado Department of Agriculture Certified Operator or Qualified Supervisor license within 1 year of employment & we provide the training!_*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** Must possess a valid Colorado drivers license.* Must pass company driving test.* Completed Host Pest Training, Pesticide Training, GPS Garmin Training, Calibration Training and Pass ATS exams on each.*ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Demonstrates the ability to understand and follow instruction in a hands-on setting.* Gains knowledge of plant identification, weed identification, insects, disease, fertilization, diagnostic techniques, and application techniques.* Gains knowledge of proper and safe handling, mixing, and application of unrestricted and restricted pesticides and fertilizers.* Loads and unloads 5 gallon pesticide containers, 50 lb. fertilizer bags, etc. May have to drag up to 300 ft. of spray hose. Proper lifting techniques required.* Mixes, loads, and applies pesticides and fertilizers under the direct supervision of a licensed applicator.* Uses spray guns, fertilizer equipment, ATVs, backpack sprayers, hand sprayers and boom sprayers.* Aerates lawns and properly trained on seeding applications* Removes weeds partially or by cutting at ground level, using either power tools or manual tools such as weed hips, hand clippers, machetes, etc.* Reports the need of repairs of trucks and equipment to crew leader.* Keeps work area neat and orderly. Must leave a customers property the way it was found or in better condition.* Communicates professionally and accurately with internal and external customers. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.* Attends and participates in all safety and training meetings.* Safeguards employees, customers and the public from hazards in and around the work area.* Helps enforce on-the-job safety practices.* Maintains a positive attitude with internal and external customers.* Acquires proper training documentation in order to advance to Plant Health Care Technician position.* Performs other related work as assigned.*EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE** High School Diploma or GED.* Industry related professional certifications and licenses (Colorado Pesticide Applicator certifications) considered a plus.*PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT*The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Proper lifting techniques required.* May occasionally be exposed to moderate to loud work environments.
