The BOSS Elementary POD Instructor will deliver high‑quality instruction in a blended learning environment for high school students. This role combines traditional classroom teaching with online learning methodologies to enhance student engagement and academic success. The teacher will work collaboratively with other educators, support staff, and students to develop and implement effective instructional strategies. Responsibilities Design and deliver engaging blended learning lessons that incorporate digital resources and traditional teaching methods. Monitor student progress through assessments and provide timely feedback to ensure mastery of subject matter. Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials that align with state standards and district goals. Utilize data analytics to tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs, fostering a personalized learning experience. Support students in developing digital literacy skills and encourage responsible use of technology in their learning. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians to provide updates on progress and address any concerns. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with educational technologies. Design, implement, and maintain an instructional program that aligns with the company’s educational philosophy and adopted course curriculum. Develop intentional and effective lesson plans that incorporate diverse teaching strategies and optimize student engagement. Deliver subject matter with real‑world applications and experiential learning. Analyze student records to gain insights into individual abilities and needs while ensuring accurate documentation. Integrate a variety of learning modalities into each lesson, employing differentiated instruction tailored to diverse student needs. Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments, maintain accurate records, and provide targeted activities to address student needs. Generate required progress reports and refer students with potential learning challenges to appropriate support services. Organize class field trips as necessary and prepare students for state‑mandated achievement assessments. Stay informed about subject matter, educational theories, and share insights to improve the curriculum continuously. Contribute to ongoing curriculum development, including revising course materials and selecting instructional resources. Familiarize oneself with supplemental services that enhance student learning beyond regular classroom activities. Establish a virtual classroom environment that fosters learning and is suited to the maturity and interests of students. Build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience and support to facilitate their growth. Ensure the virtual classroom is organized, safe, and showcases student work appropriately, enforcing relevant behavior policies. Develop clear and reasonable rules for virtual classroom conduct in line with organizational guidelines, maintaining order fairly. Plan lessons that align with established educational guidelines and goals. Design individual and group learning activities that cater to instructional objectives and student needs using appropriate technologies. Prepare thoroughly for assigned classes and provide evidence of preparation upon request from supervisory personnel. Collaborate with colleagues during curriculum planning meetings. Integrate necessary diagnostic information from each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) into lesson planning. Take necessary precautions to safeguard supplies, equipment, and materials essential for effective instructional delivery. Maintain clear, consistent, and positive communication with parents using appropriate channels. Collaborate with administration and staff; uphold confidentiality regarding student records. Participate in extracurricular activities to promote a positive school culture. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in the subject area and grade level. Experience with blended learning models and instructional technology. Strong understanding of early childhood and elementary school curriculum and assessment practices. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Previous experience in virtual teaching or online education environments. Proficiency with educational technologies: LMS, video conferencing tools, and online assessment platforms. Strong interpersonal skills: building rapport with students and creating an inclusive virtual learning environment. Organizational skills: managing multiple classes, tracking student progress, and meeting deadlines. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices and technology advancements. Best Practices for Virtual Classroom Management Set clear expectations with defined rules and procedures for behavior and participation. Engage students actively with interactive activities, discussions, polls, quizzes, and breakout rooms. Establish a consistent schedule to build stability and regular attendance. Utilize LMS features like chat, screen sharing, and virtual whiteboards to enhance interaction. Monitor student participation levels during lessons and provide encouragement. Provide timely feedback on student work to clarify progress and improvement areas. Create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and collaborating. Effective Communication With Parents in an Online Setting Send consistent updates on progress, assignments, and important dates via email or a designated platform. Organize virtual meetings to discuss student performance and address concerns. Invite parents to share insights and feedback, fostering open dialogue. Share resources and tools that parents can use to support learning at home. Tools To Enhance Virtual Learning Experiences Learning Management Systems (LMS): Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology. Interactive Whiteboards: Jamboard, Miro. Video Conferencing Tools: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex. Assessment Tools: Kahoot!, Quizizz, Nearpod. Work Environment This position will be performed in a POD location site setting, incorporating both in‑person and online instruction. The BOSS High School POD Instructors will collaborate with a team of educators and work closely with students in a supportive and innovative learning environment. Physical Demands A BOSS HS POD Instructor works at a POD site daily and faces a unique set of physical demands that combine traditional teaching responsibilities with the requirements of online instruction. This includes using computer‑based technologies for extended periods, as well as standing, sitting, and walking.
