SQL Database Engineer

Overview As a SQL Database Engineer, you design, implement and optimize SQL queries used by multiple stakeholders. You will strengthen data quality, extend data models to meet business needs, and ensure performance through modelling and tuning. You collaborate with business teams and Agile squads to define and implement data structures for critical applications, particularly in financial services. You will work with migration, scripting, and CI/CD practices to deliver reliable data solutions. This role offers impact through scalable data architecture and hands-on SQL leadership. ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement and manage SQL queries for multiple stakeholdersDetect and resolve data quality and integrity issuesEnhance or create data models to meet business needs and improve performanceTest and debug deliverables to ensure correct functioningDevelop data mappings from existing systems to new structuresExperience with data migration using industry toolsSQL tuning and optimization using query plans and trace filesPartitioning and indexing strategy for performanceCollaborate with business stakeholders and Agile teams on design, documentation, and implementation of featuresRun query plans, tuning, and schema refinementAssist with database migrations and building database scriptsCoordinate with change and release management teamsExperience with CI/CD and Liquibase is a plusExperience with cloud platforms (Snowflake) is a plus Key requirements5+ years of experience with different database technologiesStrong hands-on SQLApply data modelling techniques for performanceExperience in running query plans, tuning and schema refinementExperience with database migrations and building scriptsExperience with change and release managementCI/CD and Liquibase a plusSnowflake experience a plusAbility to work with minimal guidance in time-critical environmentsExperience in financial services domainExcellent verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skillsverbal and written communicationanalytical thinkingproblem-solvingSQLdata modellingquery tuning
