School Store Manager, The Armory at DC

Leadership Opportunity At The ArmoryDC is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation for its student-run business, The Armory. As demand for high-quality DC apparel continues to expand across all age groups, the school is investing in dedicated leadership to elevate operations, strengthen the brand, and support student engagement. This part-time, hourly role (15–20 hours/week) will oversee daily operations, staffing, and long-term strategic growth across both campuses.Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations & HoursMaintain a consistent in-store presence and ensure smooth daily operationsEstablish and manage regular store hours at the Upper Campus (subject to adjustment):Monday–Friday: 7:45–9:00 AM12:00–1:30 PM2:30–3:30 PMStaffing & SchedulingDevelop and manage a weekly staffing scheduleCoordinate shifts for enrolled student staff and parent volunteersEnsure appropriate coverage for all store hours and eventsEvents & ProgrammingPlan and execute an annual calendar of pop-up sales and special events across both campusesAssign and coordinate staffing for all eventsLeadership & Community EngagementChair the Parent Advisory Board, a group of engaged parent volunteersCoordinate volunteer participation for weekly store shifts and special eventsFacilitate collaboration among volunteers and student team membersSupervise and mentor students enrolled as Armory staffersMeet with student staff at least once per 8-day cycle during their scheduled class time in the Center for InnovationStrategy & GrowthPartner with the Director of the Center for Innovation to develop and implement a 3-year strategic plan for The ArmoryFocus on strengthening the DC brand and expanding apparel offerings for the full school community (PK–12 and alumni)Establish and work toward realistic revenue and profit targetsQualificationsExperience in retail management, operations, or similar leadership rolesStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with students, parents, and facultyInterest in school community engagement and brand development
