MAC is all of those things and more.The RoleThe Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking a fun-loving, enthusiastic Youth Programs Lead to join our team in a drop-in childcare setting serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. This is a year-round, part-time role with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule (8:00am–1:30pm), with the opportunity to pick up additional hours based on availability.Reporting to the Youth Programs Manager and Lead II, this role is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and high-quality childcare environment while supporting families and mentoring staff. The ideal candidate thrives in a team-oriented, customer-focused environment and is passionate about early childhood care and development.What You’ll DoChildcare & Program DeliveryProvide a warm, safe, clean, and engaging environment for childrenLead age-appropriate activities including games, arts and crafts, storytelling, and imaginative playPrepare daily activities and maintain organized, sanitized play spacesSupport children with transitions, helping ease separation from parentsMonitor individual and group play, ensuring safety and positive interactionsSupervise and guide children’s behavior using redirection and age-appropriate techniquesTend to children’s needs, including diapering, toileting, feeding, and hygieneServe snacks and bottles according to schedules and parent instructionsComfort and calm upset childrenFamily & Member ExperienceGreet children and parents warmly at arrival and departureMaintain clear and accurate records (check-in/out, notes, labeling belongings)Communicate positively with families, staff, and guests to create a welcoming environmentUphold a high standard of customer service at all timesTeam & Operational ExcellenceCollaborate with team members to foster a supportive, positive workplaceLead by example, mentoring staff and reinforcing safety and behavior standardsSet up, maintain, and put away equipment daily, including large play structuresFollow classroom schedules, policies, and program guidelinesMaintain confidentiality and consistent attendanceAttend required trainings, meetings, and professional development sessionsSafety & ComplianceEnforce safety policies and maintain a secure environmentIdentify and report hazards, injuries, or incidentsAdminister minor first aid when neededPromote organizational values and code of conduct What You’ll BringExperience & SkillsExperience working with young children in a recreational, childcare, or educational setting preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to engage effectively with children, parents, and team membersDemonstrated sound judgment, patience, and emotional self-controlExcellent customer service mindsetQualifications & Requirements Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff and familiesAbility to meet the physical demands of the role, including:Lifting and carrying children up to 60 lbsFrequent standing, walking, bending, and liftingAbility to work in a lively, sometimes loud environmentMust pass a background checkProof of COVID-19 vaccination required What You'll GainAt Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members.
