This role involves collaborating with internal teams to understand requirements, providing architectural expertise, and ensuring that solutions align with best practices and organizational goals. Cloud Engineer also plays a key role in migrating existing systems to the cloud and optimizing Cloud infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure and AWS Cloud services, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices, and will be passionate about leveraging cloud technology to improve performance, security, and operational efficiency.Location: office only.521 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508Salary: An IT Cloud Engineer’s salary range is $75,746.52 - $92,289.93 annually.After probation period is completed, the Permanent wage will increase at least 2.5%. Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.Job Duties Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using cloud services tools. Configure and manage core provider services based on project requirements. Collaborate with DevOps teams to establish deployment pipelines and automate deployments. Develop automation scripts to streamline cloud operations, including provisioning, scaling, securing and monitoring. Collaborate with stakeholders to define the organization’s cloud strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and security policies. Assess and recommend appropriate cloud services, based on cost, performance, and business needs. Lead cloud migration projects, including evaluating on-premises workloads, planning migration paths, and ensuring seamless transitions. Optimize cloud resources for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Regularly analyze resource usage and identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs. Create detailed documentation for architecture designs, configurations, and processes. Train and mentor team members on cloud architecture best practices, tools, and new features. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.Functional Specific Responsibilities Might Include:Define and enforce governance practices to maintain data integrity and security withing the Cloud environment.Design, architect, implement and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs.Translate business requirements into technical specifications for cloud infrastructure and application solutions.Develop cloud architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices to support cloud solutions at scale.Develops and implements strategies for server management including monitoring performance, preventative maintenance, problem avoidance, and troubleshooting.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations by using available cloud service toolsThe above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the departmentRequirements/QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field3+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with a focus on Web Services. Proven experience designing, implementing and managing complex cloud infrastructure solutions in enterprise environmentsor an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.Other: Must be authorized to work in the United States.KnowledgeCloud Architect certifications such as Cloud Certified Solutions Architect, Certified DevOps Engineer, or Certified SysOps AdministratorStrong knowledge of core cloud servicesStrong understanding of cloud networking conceptsFamiliarity with DevOps tools and practices and proficiency in InfrastructureKnowledge of hybrid cloud solutions, integrating various cloud services with on-premises or other cloud environmentsSkillsProficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) toolsExperience with DevOps and deployment pipeline practices and toolsScripting and automation experience with languagesExperience with containerization and microservicesUnderstanding of Zero Trust security models and associated tools.Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvementGood communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team with coworkers, supervisors and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive work directionDetail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and projects effectivelyUtilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.Physical RequirementsSedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
