Joe Rae Cafe (Grub Durham) is looking for a Shift Supervisor to oversee all restaurant operations, including welcoming and serving customers.Shift Supervisor responsibilities include delegating tasks to restaurant staff, addressing diners' questions and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. If you have excellent organizational and team management skills and experience in the food industry, we'd love to meet you!Ultimately, you will help us create a memorable dining experience for our guests and increase our profitability.As a Shift Supervisor, you'll be responsible for contributing the following:Delegate tasks to restaurant staff and supervise their performanceMaintain a fully-stocked inventory and order food supplies, as neededManage dining reservationsArrange to have shifts covered (e.g. when employees take time off)Help staff resolve on-the-job challengesTrack daily costs and revenuesBalance the cash register at the end of the shiftCoordinate with suppliers as they deliver food product ordersEnsure client satisfaction and gracefully handle any complaintsOpen or close the restaurant (when responsible for the first or last shift)Inform the next Shift Supervisor about pending tasksReport maintenance and training needsRequired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:Proven experience as a Shift Supervisor or relevant role in a restaurantGood knowledge of restaurant operations (like managing reservations and payments)Availability to work different shifts, including weekendsBasic knowledge of bookkeeping proceduresA customer service approach with the ability to manage complaints with professionalismExcellent organizational skillsTeam management abilitiesBS in Restaurant Management, Business Administration, or similar field and years of experienceQualifications we find highly desirable :Certification from a Culinary School of Hospitality Program is a plusAbout Grub DurhamGrub has established itself as Raleigh-Durham's premier spot to enjoy eclectic comfort cuisine within a welcoming, energetic environment, attracting a wide range of guests, including students grabbing breakfast, colleagues holding lunch meetings and families enjoying dinner on the spacious outdoor patio.
