DetailsClient NameSaint Francis Hospital MuskogeeJob TypePermanentOfferingNursingProfessionRNSpecialtyPCUJob ID20076008Shift DetailsShift07:00 PM - 07:00 AMScheduled Hours36Job Order DetailsStart Date04/07/2025Job DescriptionJob Summary:The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status.Job Responsibilities:-Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients.-Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors.-Documents steps of the nursing process.-Utilizes proper medical terminology.-Addresses problems and progress toward goals.-Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.-Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate.-Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.-Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.-Works directly with patients and/or customers.-Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.-Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.Required Skills & Experience:-Must have at least one year of experience in an acute care setting; strong Med/surg experience a must-Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.-Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.-Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.-Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.Required Education:-ADN or ASN degree.Required Certification & Licensure:-Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.-BLSMore details about the Job:• 20-bed PCU that serves Neuro (stroke unit), Medical, Surgical, and Trauma patients.• Soon to transition into new 30-bed PCU tower• Average daily census - 18• Nurse : patient ratio 1:3 or 1:4 based on acuityUNIT GOALSTo provide high quality patient care through a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Through assessment, planning, intervention, and the evaluation of patient outcomes, our goal is to assist the patient to achieve his/her optimal level of function. Unit priorities focus on multiple system monitoring, assessment, and management of the critically ill and or injured, skin management, falls management, patient and family satisfaction, crisis intervention, and the grief/bereavement process.ASSESSMENT METHODS / PROCESSES:Care provided, but not limited to: Assessment and Reassessment of Multi-Systems, Falls Management, Restraints Management, Infection Control, IV Administration (peripheral and central lines, IV starts and restarts), medication Administration (including maintenance of cardiac drugs, insulin drips, and narcotics), Pain Management (including PCA, Epidural), Patient/Family Education, Wound and Skin Management, Assistance with ADL's, Bipap, Ventilator Support, Administration of Blood and Blood Products, and Cardiac Monitoring.Tests / Assessments: Blood glucose monitoring, Arterial Blood Gases, Serum Potassium, Ionized Calcium, Serum Sodium, Pulse Oximetry, Thoracentesis, Lumbar Puncture, Insertion of Chest Tubes, Central Line Placement, Pericardiocentesis, Paracentesis, PEG placement, Intubations, Nutritional Status assessment, Functional Status assessment, Complex assessment, Daily Cares/Safety Assessment, Nursing Swallow Screen, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale, and Bladder Scanning.Support Services: Case Management, CCMU (Central Cardiac Monitoring Unit); Renal Dialysis, Education, Environmental Services, Infection Control, Vascular Access Team, Laboratory Services, Nutrition/Food Services, Pastoral Care, Pharmacy Services, Physical Medicine, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Social Work, Security, and Stroke Coordinator.Client DetailsAddress300 Edna M.
