LayerZero Power Systems is on a trajectory of sustained growth, with a loyal customer base of existing Fortune 100 customers and an expanding portfolio of new customers.Position Summary: Application EngineerThe Application Engineer at LayerZero Power Systems serves as a critical technical and commercial link between customers, outside sales, and internal engineering/operations teams. This role is responsible for managing the full pre-order lifecycle of engineered power distribution solutions, including low- and medium-voltage switchgear, PDUs, RPPs, busway systems, and other mission-critical electrical infrastructure.You will develop accurate, compliant, and competitive proposals that align with customer specifications, industry standards, and LayerZero’s manufacturing capabilities, ensuring seamless transition from concept to execution.RequirementsPrimary Duties:Proposal Development & StrategyCustomer Inquiry Ownership: Serve as the primary technical contact for incoming RFQs related to power distribution systems for data centers, industrial facilities, and other critical environments.Sales Partnership: Collaborate closely with outside sales to define bid strategy, positioning LayerZero solutions for technical and commercial success.Electrical Take-Offs: Review electrical one-lines, plans, and specifications to perform detailed take-offs for switchgear, PDUs, transformers, busway, and related components.Specification Review: Analyze project specs to ensure compliance with UL standards, NEC requirements, and customer requirements; develop Compliance/Deviation documentation.Solution Engineering: Select and configure appropriate LayerZero products, ensuring system performance, reliability, and scalability for mission-critical applications.System Configuration & ERP ManagementProject Setup: Create and manage project files in ERP/quoting systems (e.g., eBOSS or equivalent).Product Configuration: Configure custom-engineered electrical equipment including: Low/medium voltage switchgear, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Remote Power Panels (RPPs), Busway and tap boxesDocumentation Control: Maintain organized records of drawings, specifications, revisions, and communications.Order Alignment: Validate that configured solutions match purchase orders and customer expectations prior to order entry.Pricing, Proposal & Customer SupportProposal Development: Coordinate internal costing and supplier pricing to build detailed, professional proposals.Technical Support: Act as a subject matter expert for both sales teams and customers, answering technical questions and supporting design changes.Revision Management: Manage scope changes and update proposals accordingly throughout the sales cycle.Purchase Order Review: Verify terms, scope, and technical requirements on customer POs; resolve discrepancies proactively.Project Hand-Off & Execution SupportInternal Kickoff: Lead project handoff meetings with engineering, project management, and operations teams.Submittal Preparation: Develop and deliver comprehensive submittal packages including drawings, datasheets, and compliance documentation.Engineering Support: Provide technical clarification and support during submittal review and production phases.Project Continuity: Assist Project Managers in addressing customer comments, change orders, and technical inquiries.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related fieldElectrical Expertise: Strong understanding of power distribution systems, Familiarity with NEC, UL (e.g., UL 891, UL 1558), and industry standardsTechnical Skills: Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings, experience configuring engineered-to-order electrical equipmentSystems Experience: Familiarity with ERP/CRM or quoting systems (e.g., eBOSS or similar)Detail Orientation: High level of accuracy in configuration, pricing, and documentationCommunication: Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external customersTime Management: Ability to handle multiple RFQs and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentMinium of 2 + years of relatable job experiencePreferred ExperienceExperience in data center infrastructure, mission-critical power systems, or industrial electrical distributionPrior work with switchgear manufacturers or power solutions providersExposure to custom-built or engineered-to-order productsWhy This Role Matters At LayerZeroAt LayerZero Power Systems, the Application Engineer directly impacts project success by ensuring every solution is:Technically soundFully compliantOptimized for manufacturabilityDelivered with speed and accuracyThis role is essential in driving growth, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across all projects.
