The company is committed to environmental responsibility, regulatory compliance, and empowering employees to make meaningful contributions while growing their professional expertise.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Staff Accountant (operational accounting) role is responsible for supporting the accounting function through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, reporting activities, and support of the monthly close process. This position plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational accounting support across the business.RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare and record monthly account reconciliations and journal entries to support the accounting close processAnalyze general ledger accounts on a recurring basis and perform financial analyticsSupport monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for accounting leadership and other business departmentsAssist with monthly accounting close activities and ensure deadlines are metProvide invoicing support for contract-related transactionsEnsure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, GAAP, IFRS, FERC, and other regulatory standardsAssist in the preparation of quarterly and annual FERC Form 6 filings, including financial statements, schedules, and footnotesCoordinate and prepare rate and tariff filings in accordance with applicable regulationsAnalyze current accounting processes and recommend operational efficiencies and process improvementsPrepare audit support schedules and documentation as assignedAssist with budgeting and forecasting activities as neededSupport acquisition integration activities related to accounting records and processesParticipate in cross-functional projects and support additional accounting functions when necessaryPerform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance2–5 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance roleExperience in operational accounting preferredExperience within the pipelines, terminals, energy, or related industries preferredExperience with budgeting, planning, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting preferredPublic accounting and/or external audit experience preferredPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of GAAP, IFRS, FERC regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirementsUnderstanding of accounting systems, financial reporting processes, and reconciliationsAbility to work independently with moderate supervisionStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formatsExperience supporting audits and regulatory filingsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentCollaborative mindset with strong teamwork skillsABOUT YOUThe ideal candidate demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to work independently.
