Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the facilities, equipment, and grounds of our Bethel Lutheran Home. This role ensures a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Technician will perform preventive maintenance, address emergency repairs, and support various facility-related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the building, equipment, and grounds. Perform tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical repairs, HVAC maintenance, carpentry, and general repairs.
Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, including issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and safety hazards.
Preventive Maintenance: Implement and document a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure all systems and equipment are functioning efficiently and safely.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations. Identify and mitigate potential hazards within the facility.
Resident Support: Address maintenance requests from residents in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring minimal disruption to their daily lives.
Facility Projects: Assist with facility improvement projects, including renovations, upgrades, and new installations. Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed.
Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. Reorder materials as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
Record Keeping: Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members, including the facility manager, housekeeping, and healthcare providers, to ensure a cohesive approach to facility maintenance.
Training and Development: Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in maintenance technology. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in maintenance-related fields is preferred.
Experience: Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a healthcare or assisted living setting.
Skills: Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with residents, staff, and vendors.
Availability: Flexibility to work on-call hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
