The Additive Manufacturing Technician Apprentice will support the setup, operation, and maintenance of additive manufacturing equipment, including metal 3D printers and post-processing tools. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing within the aerospace and defense industry, while developing foundational technical and problem-solving skills. This is a great role for someone currently in a machining certificate program who is familiar and comfortable with running machines, using tools, reading blueprint and having an eye for product quality. This role is expected to work at least 20 hours per week between the hours of 8 AM to 4:30 PM onsite at our Margate, FL facility. Primary Responsibilities:Assist with setting up and operating additive manufacturing (3D printing) machines following ATI procedures and safety standardsSupport removal of build supports from printed partsHelp operate and maintain post-processing equipment such as EDM, bandsaws, and de-powdering systemsUse basic hand tools and power tools with guidanceLearn to identify tools and equipment used in additive manufacturingAssist with proper powder handling to maintain material quality and traceabilitySupport routine machine maintenance tasks (cleaning filters, basic inspections, etc.)Help maintain cleanliness of machines and shop floorAssist with inventory tracking of consumables and suppliesObserve and support troubleshooting of equipment issues alongside experienced techniciansMaintain logs and documentation related to production and maintenance activitiesFollow all safety procedures and company policiesOther duties as assigned Requirements Basic QualificationsCurrently enrolled in or recently completed a technical program (e.g., Manufacturing, Machining, Engineering Technology, or related field)Strong interest in additive manufacturing or advanced manufacturing technologiesBasic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learnAbility to follow instructions and work in a team environmentPosition requires a US Person due to government security clearance requirementsMust be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DoE) and Department of Defense (DoD) Classified Clearance - ATI-sponsored Preferred QualificationsExposure to manufacturing environments (school lab, internship, or prior work experience)Familiarity with basic tools or shop equipmentInterest in aerospace, defense, or advanced materials industries Skills and NeedsEagerness to learn and develop technical skillsStrong attention to detail when handling parts and equipmentGood communication and teamwork skillsBasic computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred)Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to adapt to changing priorities Physical & Work RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance if neededComfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environmentWillingness to work flexible hours if required What You'll GainHands-on experience with metal additive manufacturing equipmentExposure to aerospace-grade production processesMentorship from experienced technicians and engineersInsight into real-world manufacturing operations and problem-solving We thrive when the expectations are great, and the barriers are high.
