Location: Washington, DC Metro Area / Northern VirginiaWork Schedule: Hybrid; candidates should be available to support onsite in the DC Metro Area 2–3 days per week or on an as-needed basisClearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required; Top Secret clearance or SCI eligibility preferredCitizenship: U.S. Citizenship requiredPosition OverviewIntelliTech is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure / Software Engineer to support a large-scale DoD data platform and data operations environment. This role is ideal for an engineer who has hands-on experience building and sustaining secure, scalable software and platform services that enable data ingestion, data movement, orchestration, automation, and operational reliability in cloud-based mission environments.The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Python, AWS services, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and event-driven architectures. This individual should be comfortable developing backend services and automation, deploying and operating workloads in containerized environments, and supporting secure data operations across enterprise systems. The role sits at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and platform operations, and is well suited for candidates who have supported modern cloud-native ecosystems with strong operational and security requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain cloud-native software services and automation capabilities that support data ingestion, movement, validation, and operational workflowsBuild backend services, utilities, and automation using Python to support secure, scalable data operationsDevelop and maintain integrations with AWS services, APIs, storage platforms, messaging services, and backend systemsSupport deployment and sustainment of services in Kubernetes and containerized environmentsBuild and enhance event-driven architectures to support asynchronous processing, workflow triggers, and automated system responsesContribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation supporting reliable software delivery across environmentsApply DevSecOps best practices to software development, release management, vulnerability remediation, and secure deployment workflowsSupport infrastructure-aware software engineering, including logging, monitoring, observability, resiliency, and performance optimizationCollaborate with data engineers, platform engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders to design and implement robust technical solutionsTroubleshoot and resolve issues across cloud infrastructure, application services, integrations, and operational workflowsDocument services, deployment patterns, interfaces, and operational procedures to support maintainability and sustainmentRequired QualificationsActive DoD Secret clearanceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in a related field and 6+ years of relevant experienceStrong hands-on experience with Python for backend development, automation, and service integrationExperience working with AWS cloud services such as S3, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch, IAM, or similar servicesExperience deploying or supporting applications in Kubernetes and containerized environmentsExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and supporting automated software delivery workflowsExperience working in DevSecOps environments with an understanding of secure software delivery and operational controlsExperience designing or supporting event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing patternsExperience building software applications or platform services that support data processing, integration, automation, or operational workflowsExperience integrating with APIs, cloud services, storage systems, and backend platformsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in cloud and distributed system environmentsExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional technical teamsPreferred QualificationsTop Secret clearance and/or SCI eligibilityExperience supporting enterprise data platforms in DoD or other federal environmentsFamiliarity with cloud-based data platforms and tools such as Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, or similar ecosystemsExperience with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, and workflow automationExperience with infrastructure and container-based environments such as Docker, Kubernetes, or related technologiesFamiliarity with observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational support for cloud servicesExperience supporting secure data access, metadata-driven workflows, or governed data operationsExperience working in Agile or SAFe environments supporting enterprise systemsInterview ProcessVideo interview required and may include a technical assessment.Candidates should be prepared to discuss:software services or backend systems they have built from scratchtheir experience with Python, AWS, APIs, automation, and cloud-native developmentexamples of operational or infrastructure-facing problems they have solvedtheir experience working with large-scale data environments, secure systems, or enterprise platform serviceshow they approach debugging, reliability, and production support in cloud environmentsWork Authorization / Clearance SponsorshipAt this time, IntelliTech will only consider candidates who currently possess an active Secret clearance or higher. Clearance sponsorship is not available for this role.Compensation And BenefitsIntelliTech is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this position is $140,000 to $225,000, and actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including job-related skills, relevant experience, certifications, training, and level of seniority.
