26-27 Felix Org Community Engagement: Camp Felix VISTAThe mission of The Felix Organization is to enrich the lives of youth growing up in the foster care system. The average foster child will experience eight different home placements during their time in care. Because of that instability, they rarely if ever get a chance to have those experiences that really make a childhood special, like summer camp, holiday events, plays, sporting events, and road trips to exciting destinations. We help address that critical need. We do this through opportunities including overnight summer camps, youth conferences, mini-grants to support enrichment activities throughout the year, holiday events, and more. While so many organizations focus on basic needs, we focus on providing those experiences that make a childhood special. Our VISTA will join our small but dynamic team to increase our organization's efficiency and allow us to carry out this mission and ultimately serve more children in the foster care system. Our VISTA will support our social media and email outreach to raise awareness. They will work with our development staff to increase fundraising revenue and will help us expand and strengthen community partnerships. Our VISTA will work closely with our Program Director and CEO to plan our camp programs. This position will allow our VISTA to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector in a caring and exciting environment while having the opportunity to make a difference in the foster care community. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.Member Duties : The CAA VISTA placed at The Felix Organization will be part of the Coach Across America nationwide cohort of 64 members. The VISTA will help support the sustainability of our Camp Felix Programs, community engagement, & operations, advancing our mission to provide camp programs and enrichment to children growing up in the foster care system. Duties include: build our capacity through creation of new social media posts as well as expand our followers and engagement; explore new methods of engaging our community; draft email outreach including event invitations, newsletters, and updates; design fundraising materials to support expansion of our programs; research possible new funding streams; compose grant proposals and support grants outreach and reporting; plan and implement fundraising events and campaigns; attend meetings to share our work with potential partners in the foster care community; develop materials and assets to improve our messaging about the work we do.Program Benefits : Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend , Training , Living Allowance , Relocation Allowance , Health Coverage* , Childcare assistance if eligible .Terms :Permits attendance at school during off hours , Permits working at another job during off hours .Service Areas :Health , Children/Youth , Education .Skills :Team Work , Conflict Resolution , Leadership , Social Services , Youth Development , General Skills , Community Organization .
