JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibilities of the Customer Engagement Specialist position are to prevent merchandise loss and theft through observing and monitoring shoppers, assisting the Loss Prevention Specialist with the prosecution of shoplifters, and evaluating security concerns through routine store walks and inspections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Observe shoppers to prevent the theft of store merchandise. This can be done by walking the store observing behaviors and interacting with shoppers to discourage and prevent theft.
Acknowledge shoppers in a friendly manner as they enter and exit the store by:
Maneuvering in the stores entry and exit areas
Politely ask shoppers to see their receipt for non- bagged items and direct guests to registers when non-bagged items are observed
Answer guests questions concerning the location of items or sections within the store
Collaborate with store leadership and law enforcement to report or investigate crimes
Report incidents to the Loss Prevention Team Lead and/or Store Director
Maintain documentation or reports on Asset Protection-related incidents or investigations
Report safety concerns to the Loss Prevention Team Lead and/or Store Director
Identify and report safety concerns to store leadership to maintain a safe shopping and working environment
Comply with corporate policies and promote/follow company initiatives
Maintain flexibility to work any shift

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
To be effective at this job, Asset Protection team members should be detail-oriented team players with strong leadership and decision-making skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as they must fill out reports, interact with team members, guests and speak with police.
Education/Training: High School Diploma, some college preferred.
Possess a knowledge of observation in the areas of shopping patterns, workplace safety and surveillance
Experience: Previous loss prevention or security related job history with a retail background a plus.
Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word, and Excel a plus.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
Ability to stand for an extended period of time. Able to lift 40 pounds frequently. Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store to conduct audits and safety inspections, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth.
