Activity Aide
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Aide to enhance the quality of life for residents in a long-term care or assisted living facility. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to creating engaging, meaningful activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This role is vital in supporting residents with various needs, including dementia and memory care, while fostering a positive and vibrant community environment. Experience in senior care, recreational therapy, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. The Activity Aide plays a key role in planning and executing activities that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of residents, ensuring they experience joy and fulfillment daily.
Duties
Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and cognitive levels, including event planning for special occasions.
Coordinate with nursing staff and other caregivers to develop individualized activity plans that meet residents’ physical, emotional, and social needs.
Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely delivery of programs while accommodating residents’ preferences and health considerations.
Provide companionship and social engagement to residents, fostering a warm and inclusive community atmosphere.
Assist with memory care activities for residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia, utilizing therapeutic techniques suited for cognitive challenges.
Support family members by providing updates on resident participation in activities and overall well-being.
Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and response to activities for reporting purposes.
Skills
Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes.
Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other memory impairments; familiarity with dementia care best practices is preferred.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
Demonstrated ability to work well with people with disabilities or those requiring specialized care in long-term or home & community settings.
