Heating Air Conditioning Technician

We're building technology invented at NASA to solve one of HVAC's most overlooked problems: humidity. Our CEO Dr. Rawand Rasheed developed this technology while at NASA, was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 for Energy and Green Tech, and we're now commercializing it at scale. This is a rare chance to get in early on a clean tech startup with real traction. We're looking for an experienced HVAC Field Technician to own end-to-end pilot deployments: building units, instrumenting sites, installing and commissioning systems, and keeping them running through the trial period. Hands-on role. Real ownership. Direct impact on how our technology performs in the field. What You'll DoPilot Build and InstallationAssemble and modify POC pilot units from the ground up: mechanical assembly, plumbing, basic wiring, fit-up, and reworkSupport site installs and commissioning including rooftop and RTU work, ducting interfaces, mounts, curbs, supports, weatherproofing, and startup checksCoordinate with electricians and HVAC contractors on siteAssist with electrical and controls integration: routing, strain relief, and termination under supervisionInstrumentation and DataOwn pilot instrumentation logistics: prepare, label, and organize sensors and DAQs for each siteInstall sensors on and around RTUs, verify operation, and document placementPerform basic calibration and verification checks per test plansSupport data logger setup and field networkingMaintenance and TroubleshootingMaintain deployed systems throughout the pilot: routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, part swaps, and rapid response to issuesPerform root cause analysis on failed systems and recommend corrective actionsProvide design feedback on sub-assemblies to engineeringDocumentationMaintain clean field documentation: as-builts, photos, wiring and plumbing notes, sensor maps, and service logsManage field readiness: tools, spares, consumables, packing lists, and site access requirementsWhat We're Looking ForRequired5+ years of hands-on HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical service, or adjacent field technician experienceComfortable working on rooftops and in mechanical spaces with strong safety habitsProven ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems: airflow, ducting, pumps, valves, seals, leaks, vibration, and basic electrical symptomsBrazing and/or welding experience (or demonstrated ability to learn quickly)Strong organization and ownership mindsetWillingness to travel to pilot sites including multi-day staysPreferredEPA 608 certification or ability to obtain quicklyFamiliarity with measurement instruments: temperature/RH, pressure, airflow, CO2, power metering, flow metersExperience building prototypes, test rigs, or one-off equipmentBasic experience with data loggers and field networkingComfort reading wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawingsWhat Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)Can independently prepare a pilot kit for deploymentExecutes clean sensor installs with repeatable labeling and documentationSupports at least one pilot deployment with minimal reworkEstablishes a reliable field service cadence: logs, photos, issue tracking, spare-part disciplinePhysical Requirements Frequent rooftop and mechanical lab work.
