Manager of Grants and Communication

The Manager, Grants & Communications plays a key role in advancing Goodwill's mission by leading the organization's grants program and helping tell the story of our impact. This role works closely with a collaborative and mission-driven Development team to secure funding and translate the work happening across Goodwill into clear, compelling communications for funders and partners.The Manager oversees the full lifecycle of grants, from research and proposal development to reporting and stewardship, while also helping shape materials that bring Goodwill's programs and impact to life for external audiences.This is an exciting opportunity for a strong writer and thoughtful project manager who enjoys connecting mission-driven work with funding opportunities and being part of a supportive, collaborative team working to expand opportunity through the power of work.The Awesome Things You'll DoGrants ManagementManage the full grant lifecycle including research, proposal development, submission, and reportingMaintain grants calendar and track deadlines across foundation and corporate fundersCoordinate with program and finance teams to gather required information for proposals and reportsTrack grant outcomes and maintain accurate documentation in the donor databaseCommunications & CollateralDraft grant proposals, reports, and donor communicationsDevelop materials for internal and external audiences including program summaries, impact stories, and briefing materialsSupport messaging that communicates Goodwill's mission, programs, and impactStewardship & Relationship ManagementCoordinate follow-up communication and reporting for funded grantsTrack donor interactions and engagement activity in the Goodwill databaseSupport stewardship plans for foundation and corporate fundersDevelopment Team SupportAssist with fundraising initiatives including events, campaigns, and corporate partnershipsSupport volunteer engagement and corporate partnership opportunitiesHelp track development activities and fundraising progress across the teamOur Must HavesExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Awareness of mission-oriented programs and how to translate from internal to external audiences.Strong administrative, organizational, and project-management functions.Willingness to be action-oriented, nimble, and responsive to fluctuating priorities.Keen judgement and decision-making.This role may require occasional travel to program sites and off-site meetings across New York and Northern New Jersey.Qualifications2-5 years of professional experience in development, marketing/communications, and relationship management (non-profit sector preferred)Sharp judgement, resourcefulness, and ability to anticipate needs and solve problems independently.Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with donor databases (e.g. Raiser's Edge/Salesforce) is a plus.Strong comfort with numbers, data, designing outcomes, and reporting.Special Working ConditionsThis role requires some travel to program sites in NY and NJ as well as meetings off site.Activities are subject to change / be added to meet business needs with management approval.Writing and editing will be a large part of your job.
