About the RoleDirector of Content Acquisitions & Business Affairs oversees all content acquisition, deal negotiation, and contract administration. This role works cross-functionally with programming, production, marketing, and executive leadership to secure high-quality content and manage the legal and business affairs process from initial negotiation through execution and delivery.At Gaia, soft skills are key to success. If this sounds like you, you’ll thrive in our dynamic environment.Must be able to work on campus in Louisville, CO.ResponsibilitiesSource and evaluate licensed titles, including documentaries, films, series, and other media content that align with the network’s programming strategy and audience.Negotiate and draft content license agreements for acquired programming, including film, television, digital, and original content.Structure and negotiate distribution agreements, co-production partnerships, and strategic content deals.Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of acquisition opportunities.Attend film festivals, industry markets and conferences to discover new content and build relationships.Manage all production-related agreements, including above-the-line and below-the-line talent and crew contracts.Evaluate existing licensed content and make recommendations on which titles should be renewed or DE published.Draft and negotiate marketing, promotional, consulting, and vendor agreements supporting network operations and campaigns.Coordinate rights management, deliverables, clearances, and contract compliance across acquired and original content.Partner with internal stakeholders to support programming launches, production initiatives, and distribution expansion.Maintain deal tracking, rights windows, territories, fees, exclusivity, renewal dates and business affairs workflows to ensure timely execution and compliance.Stay informed on market trends, rights valuations, and evolving streaming and FAST channel business models.Qualifications10+ years of experience in content acquisitions, business affairs, entertainment law, or media dealmaking within streaming, television, film, or digital platforms.Experience negotiating and drafting licensing agreements for film, television, and digital content.Strong background in production legal and business affairs, including above-the-line and below-the-line agreements.Experience with FAST, AVOD, SVOD, and/or OTT distribution models preferred.Familiarity with independent film acquisitions, content distribution, and platform partnerships.Understanding of content rights, clearances, chain of title, and delivery requirements.Existing industry relationships with distributors, producers, studios, aggregators, and content suppliers.Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in negotiations and contract execution.Highly organized and comfortable managing many details across multiple deals, contracts and renewal timelines.Knowledge of entertainment industry standards, rights management, and production practices.Strong communication, organizational, and strategic relationship management skills.
