Senior Technician LOCATION: Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, FL JOB STATUS: Full-time Clearance: Subject to NASA or government background checksCERTIFICATION: N/A TRAVEL: Limited; as needed Must be US citizenAstron has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technician to join our team at the Launch Equipment Test Facility (LETF), located at the iconic Kennedy Space Center. In this role, you'll provide expert mechanical, pneumatic, fluid systems, and testing support to ensure the readiness of critical launch equipment and systems. This is an onsite position that may require occasional overtime, weekends, and potential shift work depending on operational needs.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSHigh school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma and completion of related technical training curriculum10 Years of related experienceSafe driving recordCNC equipment maintenance experienceDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSExperience with machine shop and fabrication equipment including CNC and manual mills and lathes, laser cutting center, water jet cutting center, laser engraver, UV ink printer, parts tumblers and wastewater processing center, material shear, sheet metal press brake, and band sawsElectrical troubleshooting ability, certification is a plusForklift trained or ability to become an operatorStrong organizational skillsExcellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skillsAbility to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment and have a pleasant disposition under fast paced and sometimes stressful situationsAbility to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracyMust be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work independently or with minimal supervisionCompetent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePointPosition may involve extended periods of sitting or standingPhysical requirements: sitting, walking, standing for extending periods of time, Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lb., will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shootingPosition may require travel to different areas on site and some occasional outside workWalking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facilityClimbing ladders, stairs, and platforms may be necessary.RESPONSIBILITIESInspection and maintenance of safety equipmentReplacing expired components on pressure systemsAssembly and repair of mechanical systems and occasional repair of inoperative equipment where practicalSoldering and wire termination in support of electrical system assemblyMaintaining chemical inventories, coordinating removal of hazardous waste and expired chemicalsMaintaining the laboratories inventory of supplies and consumablesKeeping the laboratory clean and organizedPerform any other related and/or associate duties as required
