You will be working on the shop floor along side Manufacturing and Quality teams to develop engineering dispositions related to non-conformances. You will work hard, have fun, and make history!This Liaison Engineer must have Material Review Board (MRB) experience in aerospace programs, and must be able to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate.Key job responsibilitiesThis position will work 2nd shift, 4:00pm-2:00am, 4 days a week back half Wednesday-SaturdayReview and disposition non-conformance events of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment that may occur in all phases of the Amazon Leo operations: procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, testing, transportation, final integration, launch and orbital operationsDevelop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes and work instructionsConduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actionsDocument static, dynamic and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established structural analysis reportsDevelop analysis methods to address common non-conformancesWork with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering experts to provide root cause failure analysesInteract with internal customers, external customers, and suppliersA day in the lifeThis Liaison/MRB Engineer will be providing engineering support to resolve engineering issues that arise during manufacturing and assembly processes, quality inspection and acceptance tests, through the application of engineering and design principles, consulting the engineering development teams as needed.About the teamThe Liaison Engineering team is part of the Amazon Leo Structural Integrity and Analysis teams (Structural Analysis, Loads and Dynamics, Materials and Processes and Reliability) that is ultimately responsible for Integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program, inside and outside of the Mechanical Engineering group.Basic Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in engineering field, or equivalent experience;* 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Liaison Engineer / Material Review Board (MRB) role with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structuresPreferred QualificationsExperience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to productionExperience with the project management of technical projectsStrong fundamentals in engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, modal, frequency response, random vibration, sine and acoustic analyses/tests)Experience with formal root cause and correct action investigationsExperience with fatigue and fracture analysesKnowledge of or experience with spacecraft technology and related primary, secondary and tertiary structuresFamiliarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES)Strong understanding or Geometric Dimensioning & TolerancingStrong understanding of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 (drawing interpretation)Experience with Siemens Products (Teamcenter, NX, NX Nastran)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
