Mechanical Designer

General Position Description: The Mechanical Designer will advance internal project deliverables through individual contribution and team collaboration, gaining progressively higher levels of technical proficiency. The Mechanical Designer will utilize critical thinking, problem solving, and technical skills to complete tasks, with guidance and mentorship from the team leader and senior team members. This position will report to the office two days per week minimum. Additional in-office days may be required to facilitate internal and external meetings, site visits, events, or other business needs. Travel between offices may also be required in the performance of job duties. Key AccountabilitiesProduction – 45%Set up drawing backgroundsPrepare and coordinate mechanical and plumbing floor plansPrepare details, riser diagrams, and equipment schedulesEdit drawing specificationsCoordinate drawings with other disciplinesAssist in the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and presentationsTechnical Engineering – 35%Perform engineering calculations per disciplineAnalyze engineering problems and formulate solutionsUse references, design guides, and precedent examples from prior jobs to creatively solve problemsDevelop progressively higher levels of technical proficiency in mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systemsParticipate in CA phase of project including submittal reviews and RFI responsesResearch and understand applicable codes, industry best practices, and permit requirementsInternal Project Management – 10%Work under the guidance and expertise of Team Leader to: Begin to manage non-complex projects or those of limited scopeMaintain a current work plan task lists for each projectDelegate and track project tasks across the teamCoordinate with project managers regarding project status and deadlinesRespond promptly and appropriately to requestsPrepare for and attend client meetingsQuality and Organizational Management – 5%Maintain an individual work plan detailing tasks for each projectQA/QC own work to ensure accuracy of documentation and clarity of visual informationEnsure deliverables meet company standards and client expectations Maintain organized project files, meeting minutes, and field notesProfessional & Organizational Development – 5%Participate in organizational training and development programsParticipate in opportunities to share knowledge with staffAssist in the training and development of team membersLead the technical onboarding and training of internsAttend team and client events Participate in the interview process to evaluate prospective candidates or internsSubmit timesheets, expense reports, and other administrative documentation accurately and on timeThis position may perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university2+ years of AEC industry experience preferredFE/EIT preferredIntermediate proficiency in Revit Intermediate proficiency in design and documentationIntermediate understanding of the principles, practices, and trends of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systemsProficient organizational skillsProficient task and time management skillsProficient communication skillsProficient problem solving skillsStrong attention to detailPhysical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements:Physical Demands:Regularly required to sit for extended periods at a desk using a computerMust be able to view a computer screen for prolonged periodsOccasionally required to lift or move objects up to 50 poundsDuring site visits, may be required to:Walk on uneven terrain or unfinished surfacesClimb stairs and laddersEnter tight spaces or areas with limited accessibilityCarry equipment or tools such as measuring devices or laddersMental Requirements:Ability to concentrate for extended periods while managing multiple tasksMust be able to write clearly and effectively in EnglishWork Environment:Primarily works in a standard office environment with typical office equipment and conditionsOccasional visits to client offices and active construction sites, which may include exposure to:Noise, dust, and other typical construction site conditionsOutdoor weather conditions and temperature variationsSituational hazards requiring use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety vests, or bootsCompany-Wide Values:Uphold and model Engenium Group’s core values in all aspects of work.Earn trust and keep it through accountability, communication, and integrityShow up and shine with positivity, enthusiasm, and commitmentLead with empathy, compassion, and understandingAchieve together with a shared sense of responsibility, passion, and connectionPut people first by developing meaningful relationships and positive experiences
