Oversee assigned student activities and services.QualificationsEducation/Certification:Master's degree from accredited universityTexas principal or other appropriate Texas certificateCertified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiserSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of campus operationsWorking knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectivenessAbility to manage budget and personnelAbility to implement policy and proceduresAbility to interpret dataExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Two years experience as a classroom teacherResponsibilitiesInstructional ManagementEncourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when possible.Participate in program evaluation measures and make suggestions for improvement where needed.Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies and classroom practices.Foster collegiality and team building among staff, encouraging active involvement in decision-making.School/Organizational ImprovementTake a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school's goals.Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community.Assist principals to develop, maintain, and use information systems to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence.Student ManagementMay act as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws.Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that promotes positive behavior.Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that discipline is equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and staff.Ensure that students are adequately supervised during noninstructional periods.Administration and Fiscal/Facilities ManagementOversee campus operations in the principal's absence.Assume leadership for planning and scheduling of daily school activities, including class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.Oversee reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with staff to identify and address concerns.Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment and monitor inventory in accordance with district policy.Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations affecting the school.Personnel ManagementObserve employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluations; serve as second appraiser as needed.Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.School/Community RelationsArticulate the school's mission to the community and solicit support in realizing the mission.Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs, using appropriate techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.OtherFollow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, administrative assistants, and others as required.Physical and Mental DemandsStandard office equipment, frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending, pushing, pulling, twisting. Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboard use. Occasional lifting (=15 pounds). May involve physical restraint of students to control behavior.
